What is going on and how it gets diagnosed
P0191 says the fuel rail pressure sensor's report fails plausibility - the number moves wrong, sits wrong, or contradicts what the computer commanded. The ambiguity is the point: either the sensor lies about good pressure, or it truthfully reports bad pressure. The two split the repair bill by an order of magnitude, so telling them apart is the whole diagnosis.
A mechanical gauge on the rail settles it in minutes: gauge matches the sensor's complaint - the problem is real, and the pump, filter and regulator take the stage; gauge reads healthy while the sensor disagrees - the sensor has drifted, a cheap and common ending, famously so on some high-volume truck engines. Wiring and the shared 5-volt reference deserve their usual glance before parts. The safety note stands apart from all of it: fuel smell, wet spots near the rail, or mist under the hood end the sensor conversation instantly - that is a leak, and leaks near hot engines do not wait for appointments.

“Replaced fuel pump driver module (fpdm) mounted on a support above the spare tire on a 04 ford f150.first engine code was p0191 for the fuel rail pressure sensor, engine would crank but not start. Ran scan tool and found code p1237 for the fuel pump driver module. The cast housing of the fpdm is corroded and cracked almost splitting it in two pieces.
