“The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH uphill with a boat hitched on a trailer, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine overheated and the vehicle was pulled over and the idol warning message was displayed. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road, however the vehicle lost power with the boat trailer wheel still on the highway. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the transmission upshifted as intended; however, the vehicle then suddenly downshifted to a lower gear. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the failure worsened and jolted the occupants inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic and was diagnosed and determined that the vacuum modulator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied covering the cost of the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. “The 6.2 liter engine has been recalled. The problem is if you pass inspection you are now required to use a higher grade of oil. This results in an additional cost of about $50 per change. “This truck has the feature when you are stoped the truck will turn off then turn back on. My truck has not had a problem yet, but I know several people who have. Recalls - 2 campaigns
OEM Systems, LLC (OEM) is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles. The rear bumper mounting bracket may not be sufficient for towing, which can allow the towed trailer to detach from the vehicle.
Remedy: OEM will replace the rear bumper mounting bracket and hitch, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in August 2024. Owners may contact OEM customer service at 1-800-810-7252.
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 18, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252494000.
