What is going on and how it gets diagnosed

P0449 is the electrical circuit of the EVAP vent valve, which lives near the fuel tank in the path of water, salt and gravel. Connector corrosion is endemic there.

GM trucks and SUVs of the 2000s made this code famous; the aftermarket sells improved valves with pigtails for exactly that reason.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and DTC: P0449 and P0498 were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to a Special Coverage Adjustment Program for the Evaporative Emissions Purge Pump; however, the VIN was not included in the coverage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. I tried pumping gas and the car would not let me pump the gas into the car. I had to hold the the gas pump hose and pull the trigger myself to pump the gas, which would still make the clicking stop noise that stops the pumping of the gas. Then when I started driving, the check engine light came on. The warning light comes on and off and is showing (P0498/P0449) which is the evaporative emission system vent control electrical circuit signal has low voltage for a predetermined period of time. Its calling to replace the evaporative emissions canister vent solenoid and I have seen 3 vehicles the same as mine needed the same thing fixed. Upon accelerating to enter traffic the engine stalled. Subsequent attempts to restart the vehicle have been unsuccessful. The engine will not turn at all. A mechanic determined the engine was locked. The plastic casing on the shifter cable has broken and the sprag on the at transmission is bad.... Or so I have been told. It is in the driveway now with the abc, brake, traction control and esc lights lit as well as error codes p0449 & p2101. Purge vent valve ground wire keeps breaking off in the wiring harness due to not enough protection(from the elements)and causing the check engine light to come on(p0449 -purge vent valve circuit malfunction) and sometimes have a gas order in the vehicle due to this ongoing issue and needs to be addressed on how to remedy this issue.
