“Coolant intrusion into cylinder 3, diagnosed at two different shops. This is a known defect in the manufacturing of the engine block and Ford corporate refused to assist us in any way in fixing it. $9600+ repair quote on a car with 121000 miles! “Coolant leak into cylinder 4 of engine has caused a diagnostic for engine to have to be replaced. My car has 58,105 miles on it. This is well below the mileage limit of a standard power train life. It is my understanding that car could power down at any time so it is dangerous to continue driving. Ford needs to be held accountable as I read there are numerous instances of this happening and it is a problem for this model. A safety recall should take place. Unacceptable quality of material and design has caused problems both in the past and for future instances and could endanger people driving on the highway and in traffic if engine would power down.”Owner report · Engine · Sep 2026
“My 2018 Ford Edge has coolant intrusion. It reads coolant level too high, has a rough idle, a burning smell sometimes, and white smoke starting to emit from the tailpipe. “Coolant intrusion, Ford service shop states it needs a new motor. This is a known issue and the vehicle is not over 100k miles. Driving on highway and loss of power, swapped spark plugs and ignition coil, check engine light turned back on a week later and engine overheated. “The coolant start leaking into cylinder#1 and cause a check engine light on and problems with the idle and engine performance, my care has only 40k mileage on it and the warantty already passed on it. Its a big ford fail of design or production and i want them to handle that. We can't buy expensive cars and not trust a big company like ford. “On September 11, 2026, my 2018 Ford Edge with approximately 126,000 miles began shaking and the check-engine light came on. There were no earlier warnings. I am concerned the engine could lose power while driving. I took it to a Ford dealership, where the advisor verbally confirmed coolant inside an engine cylinder and reported codes P0302 and P0316. The repair was quoted at $8,600 before taxes, and repair assistance was denied. The only other recent inspection was a registration inspection a few months earlier.”Owner report · Engine · Sep 2026
“Have water intrusion into engine which caused engine to overheat and started knocking as I was trying to get off hwy to safety from other hwy traffic. And ford knows about this issue and will not do nothing until if fails. “The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the coolant temperature warning light illuminated. The contact stated that immediately after the failure, the vehicle failed to accelerate and sputtered abnormally. The vehicle was restarted and taken to a service center to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant was leaking into the engine block, causing engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. “2018 Edge, 2.0 EcoBoost, "coolant intrusion into cylinders/ TSB 19-2346 & TSB 19-2208 /22-2229," DP26008. Chemically flush and remove existing fluid. Additional flush and cleaning chemicals may be added to assist in cleaning system contamination. Fill system fluid(s) to proper capacity with new fluid. Fluid additives and/or conditioner may be added to system. Leak test vehicle system. “I have the 2.0 Ecoboost that is the subject of internal coolant leak with a potential diagnosis that matches the TRB on this issue. The car has 50K miles and is a 2018 Edge. If this is the issue it should be fixed by Ford without the need for me as an owner to foot the bill for their poor design especially since it was know for a couple years prior by Ford before I purchased this vehicle new. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V270. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 8, 2025.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles. These vehicles may have door striker bolts that are shorter than intended. Vehicles with shorter door striker bolts fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components" potentially resulting in the doors opening in the event of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door striker bolts, free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18C06.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began on July 5, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16 (S2). Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 17V-427.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The rear brake jounce hose may rupture and leak brake fluid.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the brake jounce hoses and adjust brake jounce hoses with no damage present, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 17, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S87.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, 2019 Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT vehicles. The power supply cables at the starter and the alternator may not have been properly secured, possibly resulting in an electrical arc.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator and starter motor power supply cables to verify that they are properly secured, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began September 26, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S25.
