“Driving down the highway at 60mph, dash started blinking for trailer brake service needed. Was not trailering anything. Within 3 seconds I had smoke filling the cab, pulled over and got out. Within 3min truck was fully engulfed totally gone. God forbid I was alone but even at that I did not have time to get many things out and keep imagining what a different day I’d be looking at if there were kids with me.”Owner report · Electrical System,Unknown Or Other · Jun 2026
“The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while at a stop sign all lights on the outside of the vehicle began to turn on and off independently. No warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlight control module needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and they referred him to call NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 61,000.”Owner report · Exterior Lighting · May 2026
“Power tailgate opens and closes by itself. Safety of others is at risk if materials fall out on the road while driving if the tailgate opens by itself. There has been a recall for this but my truck vin is not included yet had the same issue. No warning when tailgate started having issues.”Owner report · Electrical System · Apr 2026

“Batteries being drawn down from a parasitic draw. Tailgate won’t operate from outside the truck and infotainment system malfunctioning also lights flashing periodically. This is the second time in about a month this has happened. The first time the dealer said I had bad batteries so I replaced both of them with Napa batteries. Waiting to hear from the dealer now on the findings this time.”Owner report · Electrical System · Apr 2026
“While accelerating to merge onto the highway, the transmission attempted a shift twice and could not complete the shift. That process causes an aggressive deceleration with each shift attempt. It then slowed, turned on the check engine light and displayed "Reduced Power Mode" - i.e. went into limp mode. The dealer pulled code P0747. The repair is a full transmission rebuild. I did not experience wheel lock up like other people have, but this is the same problem that has been heavily documented.”Owner report · Power Train · Feb 2026
“The transmission valve has gone bad a few thousand miles outside of warranty. This part has widely been recalled in Silverados up to 2022 but is not including 2024 yet. This is the same issue, that I also had with my Chevy Tahoe last August. Please include 2024 2500 Silverados.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Jan 2026
“I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.”Owner report · Electrical System,Unknown Or Other · Jan 2026
“My 2024 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax experienced a forced emissions derate event with a speed-limited countdown. The vehicle suddenly lost normal operating capability and became unsafe and undrivable. The truck was disabled in Enid, Oklahoma and had to be recovered and transported to a dealership. Prior to failure, the vehicle showed abnormal DEF/emissions behavior. The failure involves the SCR/DEF emissions system. I later confirmed this vehicle has a completed Product Emissions Recall for SCR Fault Detection. Despite that recall, the emissions system failed and triggered a derate and loss-of-mobility event. The truck is currently at Classic Chevrolet in Owasso, OK for diagnosis.”Owner report · Power Train,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System · Jan 2026
“The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.”Owner report · Electrical System,Unknown Or Other,Engine · Dec 2025
“Transmission lags and slips while over reving the engine. A local gm dealer has confirmed transmission issues and slippage”Owner report · Power Train,Electrical System · Dec 2025
