What is going on and how it gets diagnosed
P2422 says the vent valve is closed when it should be open - a mechanical complaint rather than an electrical one. With the vent shut the tank cannot equalise pressure, so filling becomes a fight with the pump nozzle and opening the cap may produce an audible rush of air.
The valve sits in the dirtiest part of the vehicle and is normally open in its resting state, so anything that jams it - road grit, corrosion, an insect nest in the intake filter - produces this code. Cleaning sometimes works; on many designs the valve is not serviceable and is replaced as a unit.

“I called honda customer care and they told me that the problem that I am experiencing is not covered any longer under the warranty.
