“Black Nissan exterior driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic brake, checking several cars cut me off. Break check the FedEx truck in front of me twice. Was able to Veer to the right, avoiding directful impact with the FedEx truck in front of me. Airbags did not deploy, and my head cracked. “My car is stalling, shaking, shuddering, not accelerating and downshifting while I am on the highway almost killing me while attempting to inch my way across the lanes to the shoulder. With NO WARNING my vehicle completely broke down with my children in the car one is Non Verbal and on the Autism Spectrum with a serious heart condition- I myself am clinically diagnosed with PTSD and the terror I have experienced is absolutely devastating! “Took the car in for routine cvt fluid and filter change. Mechanic completed the task Took the vehicle for a road test and at highway speed the cvt transmission shifted to a higher gear and revved the motor rpms immediately over 6000 to 7000. “I got an accirdent Jan 9,2025 and my car was totally wreck. Im in body pain and therapy right now and in working status report because of my situation. The airbag didnt deployed at the time of accident. Mitsubishi outlander has 7 airbags , but nothing has comes out. This is very dangerous. God is really works for miracles coz me and my daughter are alive even were having pain in our body. “Starter clicks, doesn't turn engine. Tried rotating engine, engine will not turn past a certain angle. Removed spark plugs for cylinder inspection. 1,2, and 3 ok. Cylinder 4 spark plug extremely difficult to remove. Ground strap has been impacted by debris. Borescope inspection shows two broken off exhaust valves laying on the piston. Valve cover removed to inspect timing chain and sprokets. Chain and sprokets are intact. Engine reassembled besides cylinder 4 spark plug and coil pack.”Owner report · Engine · Aug 2024

“The contact owns a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V563000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the dealer refused to perform the software update on the vehicle because the vehicle had a Salvage Title. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. “The contact owns a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power momentarily with an unknown message was displayed. The vehicle then regained motive power independently and the RPM was elevated to 7,000. The contact stated that there was a hole in the transmission housing and the lower engine block. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Outlander Sport vehicles equipped with continuously variable transmissions and mechanical key ignition systems. A software error in the transmission control unit (CVT-ECU) may incorrectly reduce the transmission gear ratio at high speeds, which can result in an engine stall.
Remedy: Dealers will update the CVT-ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 24, 2022. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-22-004.
