I have a 2006 mitsubishi galant that is out of warranty and only has 65k miles on the odometer. It a black galant and the paint is fading in spots, it looks like oxydation is setting in, I've tried over the counter polishes to correct the problem to no avail. This imho, is a paint defect and I feel that mitsubishi should correct the problem. The car looks like like crap now and I am not likely to purchase another galant if this is not remedied. *trOwner report · Structure · Mar 2011

I have a black 2005 mitsubishi galant. Within the past year the paint has been fading by turning a off white in some areas and it is spreading like cancer. I even have a spot that is getting rusted. I am not sure what to do but there needs to be a paint recall. I need my paint fixed please before it spreads everywhere. I have three children and am not able to purchase a new car at this time. *trOwner report · Structure · May 2009

My 2005 galant has been experiencing brake problems I reported it to mitsubishi dealer before my warranty expired and they told me there was nothing wrong just a glaze. I finally took it somewhere else to get the brakes done they replaced the pads 2 weeks later the brakes started making noise since then I have taken them back for the same problem over and over again all they tell me, its a glaze but the noise gets louder. The engine also makes a clicking noise that doesn't sound right. *trOwner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Sep 2008
My car would not start at all. After it being towed to a garage, they diagnosed the problem to be the electrical wiring harness. It was chafing against the engine and causing a short. When they replaced all the fuses the car sparked and smelled of smoke with small flames by the fuse box. The mechanic ended having to replace the harness. But said that this maybe a universal problem as my car is only a 2005 mitsubishi galant. Of course it has 72,000 miles so it is out of warranty. *trOwner report · Electrical System · Dec 2007
Car stopped while driving. I took the car to the dealership and 8 hours later they said that the car was overfilled causing the filter and canister to be saturated with fuel making the vehicle stop. (although I know I did not overfill my vehicle) there is nothing in the owners manual or warranty warning not to overfill the gas tanks and that it will cause car failure while driving. *jbOwner report · Fuel System, Gasoline · Feb 2007
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 mitsubishi galant. The driver side headlights have failed three times within the past 12 months. The first failure occurred while driving 15 mph. The contact has taken the vehicle to the dealer everytime the failure occurs, but they could not determine the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000 and current mileage was 51,000. MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING 45,988 MY 2005-2007 ENDEAVOR, GALANT, ECLIPSE COUPE, AND MY 2007 ECLIPSE SPYDER VEHICLES. THE BRACKET THAT IS THE ATTACHMENT POINT FOR THE LEFT REAR FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAP MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY FORMED DURING A METAL STAMPING PROCESS. THE PROCESS MAY HAVE CAUSED THE METAL TO HAVE A SPLIT IN THE AREA WHERE THE BOLT THAT HOLDS ONE OF THE TWO FUEL TANK STRAPS TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS LOCATED. IN THE EVENT THE FUEL TANK IS FULL AND THE VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO A SEVERE COLLISION, THE BRACKET MAY BREAK AND ALLOW THE FUEL TANK TO DROP DOWN, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FUEL LEAK.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT TO SEE IF THE LEFT REAR FUEL TANK STRAP MOUNTING BRACKET HAS SPLITTING BEYOND A SPECIFIC LIMIT. VEHICLES WITH MODERATE TO SEVERE SPLITTING WILL BE REPAIRED USING A REINFORCEMENT CAP, A SPECIAL STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE, AND A RIVET TO REINFORCE THE FUEL TANK MOUNTING BRACKET. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI AT 1-800-222-0037.
