“The contact owns a 2022 Mercedes-Benz S 580. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed CAM shaft solenoid. The contact was informed that the CAM shaft solenoid needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact was informed that the engine needed to be dismantled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact referenced an unknown recall with a similar failure description; however, the VIN was not under recall. “1. The tires//rims on this vehicle are causing extremely excessive tire blowouts. I have had at least 5 tire blowouts in the last 6 months alone along with 8-10 tire changes due to bubble forming on sidewall. This is a widespread issue on this vehicle in which I have read that many others are also experiencing the same. The vehicle is available for inspection. 2. A tire blowout while driving can be extremely hazardous especially on the freeway. 3. The problem with this vehicle has been confirmed with the dealer. However, they are unable to pinpoint what is exactly causing these excessive tire blowouts. 4. No, the vehicle has not been inspected. 5. “While driving on the freeway at approximately 40 mph on May 10, the yellow check engine light came on. I was approximately 200 miles into the current tank of gas, I stopped and checked to make sure the gas cap was properly secured. There were no obvious drivability issues. I immediately dropped the car off at Mercedes of Ontario, California, and they were able to confirm the problem, but could not clear the code, or determine the root cause of failure. Ontario Mercedes has now had my car for 6, days and that they are waiting for a M/B factory technician to tell them what to do.”Owner report · Engine · May 2023
“Was driver the car at 35 mph when the automated emergency breaks activated and made the car into a full stop. No cars or anyone was in front of the car. This happed again two days later doing about 30mph with no one around the car. Car had proximity 3000 miles My heads-up display stopped working on the car twice. First time it stopped the dealer had to order a new one and replace it. Same problem happed again after 2 month. Car lock does open when the car is running. I had a dad sitting the car and I came out with the keys with engine was running. The car locked itself and when pressed the unlock button on the key it doesn't open. “New 2022 s580 defective passenger seat belt buckle (female) fails to engage. Appears to be a manufacturing defect and/or poor quality control. Latch flange appears to be engaged even without seatbelt (male) buckle to restrain. Seatbelt therefore unusable. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2023 S580, and Maybach S580 vehicles. In the event of a mechanical failure in the engine Camtronic system, the engine control unit (ECU) software may cause the engine to overheat or stall.
Remedy: Dealers will update the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 15, 2024. Owner notification letters will be mailed in phases, on November 15, 2024, January 10, 2025, and February 21, 2025. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz Customer Service at 1-877-496-3691. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2024100007.
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2022-2025 S 500 4MATIC, Maybach S 580 4MATIC, Maybach S 680 4MATIC, S 580 4MATIC, 2023-2025 S 580 E 4MATIC, and 2024-2025 AMG S 63 E Performance vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture and leak brake fluid.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 27, 2026. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V116. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 9, 2026.
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2022 C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, EClass Coupe/Convertible, CLS, AMG GT 4-doors Coupe, and EQS vehicles with a heated leather steering wheel. Due to a software error in the hand detection control unit, the hands-off detection might not detect when the driver's hands are away from the steering wheel when using the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC system.
Remedy: Dealers will update the hand detection control unit software for the DISTRONIC system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 6, 2022. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2022040010.
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2022 S580Z, S500V, and S580V vehicles. The sub frame weld for the thrust arm on the rear axle carrier may have been improperly welded, causing the thrust arm to break and detach.
Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been performed. Dealers will inspect the sub frame weld on the rear axle carrier and replace the rear axle carrier as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2022.
