The frame, suspension, and brake lines rusted through prematurely. The brake lines were replaced all around before 75,000 miles. Before 80,000 miles the truck has been declared non-repairable as the frame and suspension have rusted through at inspection. Truck was lightly used since 2001 and had not hit 80,000. Miles but became unsafe to operate due to rust.Owner report · Suspension · May 2018
The entire frame rusted out from under my truck. While driving down the street, the spare tire fell away from the bottom of the truck, ripping off the left side of the bumper. I have been to numerous garages about repair and none will touch it. The say that this is a problem with the mazda truck (and sister truck a ford). The body of the truck is still in great shape. It only has 90600 miles on it. There is not any rusting on the outside of the truck. Everything but the frame would run for another 90000 mile easily! I feel that something should be done about this problem. It is such a waste of money to have it just rot away!Owner report · Structure · Jan 2016
I contacted heritage mazda in towson md to have the recall fixed. After being transferred 4 different times, the service writer informed me that they could not get the harness to fix this issue and I would have to wait a few years. I contacted mazda corporate direct and was told by them that the part is available. I feel that heritage just didn't want to do the fix and would like someone to look into why they will not fix a recall item for my truck?Owner report · Vehicle Speed Control · Sep 2015

Discovered the right rear spring hanger had rusted off the frame of the truck. Further inspection has found the frame is so badly rusted that repair of the spring hanger is not possible due to the overall condition of the frame. Simply put, the frame has rotted and pieces fall of as you drive. There is no more frame left to re-attach the rear spring to. Severe premature rust. The rest of the vehicle metal is in good condition. *trOwner report · Structure · Jul 2012
Tl- the contact owns a 2001 mazda b4000 cab plus. While driving in inclement weather, the contact began to lose control of the vehicle. He then engaged the electronic four wheel drive function but the function failed to activate. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact to purchase a new 4x4 control module. The manufacturer was also contacted but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. No repairs were performed. The failure mileage was unknown. Tl* the contact owns a 2001 mazda b3000 4x4 pickup. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle in for regular service, the technicians advised him that the frame and the brake lines were severely rusted. The vehicle was repaired for the frame. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The VIN was unavailable. When the mazda was lifted to repair the brake line and replace the brakes the spring shackles broke off due to extreme rust, costing an additional $450. I think mazda should be held responsible just as toyota recalled their vehicles due to extreme rusting. Updated 11/09/2011 *ln *trOwner report · Structure · Aug 2011
2001 - rear leaf spring shackles & brackets rot off the frame. Replaced both. The entire area of the frame where the bumper, leaf spring, spare tire and trailer hitch attach is all extremely rotted. The garage where repaired mentioned to keep checking the frame periodically, as it may rot faster than they can estimate. *trOwner report · Structure · Mar 2011
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 mazda b2500. The contact stated that on five different occasions while at a stop light, the vehicle would suddenly accelerate when he depressed the brake pedal; he described the failure stating that it felt as if he touched the accelerator pedal. He also stated that the check engine light was currently illuminated. He had not taken the vehicle to the dealership or called the manufacturer to-date. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current mileage was 166,197. The failure mileage was approximately 165,500.Owner report · Vehicle Speed Control · Jan 2010
2008 - rear leaf spring shackle rots off. Replaced both. 2009 - shackle bracket falls off with about 6" of the frame with it. My only option was to personally weld a piece of metal and fabricate a new bracket. The other side will fail soon as well. The entire area of the frame where the bumper, leaf spring, spare tire and trailer hitch attach is almost gone. The weird thing is that the body is sound. The bed is no more than an inch away and looks new. *trOwner report · Structure · Sep 2009
Tire tread separation on passenger rear side occurred on 8/28/09 in st. Augustine florida. The vehicle was a mazda b2300 (2001). The driver lost control of the vehicle, spun around 180 degrees on i95, went into the ditch & collided into the guardrail on the passenger side. The passenger suffered head wounds and four broken ribs & had to be transported to flagler hospital. The driver suffered no significant injuries. *trOwner report · Tires · Aug 2009
