Tl* the contact owns a 2000 mazda b3000. The contact stated that the vehicle unexpectedly caught on fire while it was parked in a residential driveway. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and was not diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the incident. A police/fire report was not filed. Consumer inspected vehicle after hearing a loud squeaky noise coming from the front passenger sides. When inspecting he found a loose prematurely rusted lower ball joint with no lubrication and replaced the part. Dealer stated there was never any type of grease fitting which caused rusting. Transmission went out at 12-28-04 . Dealer told me I needed a new transmission at a cost of 3800.00 . At speeds high and low it will not shift right. I tried to get help on this problem and mazda corp said it would take a while to maybe solve. *jbOwner report · Power Train · Dec 2004
I was involved in an accident and the air bags deployed on the first impact, but when I was rear ended my head was cut open by the plastic cover for the air bag. When I was rear ended a 2nd and 3rd time my nose was cut by the same plastic cover.*akOwner report · Air Bags · Dec 2004

While placing the key inside of the ignition, the anti theft alarm system would come on and stay on. This caused the vehicle to not start. ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH A SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM, THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH MAY, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, LEAK INTERNALLY AND THEN OVERHEAT, SMOKE, OR BURN.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A FUSED WIRING HARNESS. AN INTERIM NOTICE WAS SENT TO OWNERS ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2007, DIRECTING THEM TO HAVE THE SPEED DEACTIVATION CONTROL SWITCH DISCONNECTED TEMPORARILY. A SECOND NOTIFICATION LETTER TO OWNERS WAS IN FEBRUARY 2008 ADVISING THEM TO RETURN TO DEALERS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE REPAIR PART. OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES WHO DID NOT RECEIVE A PHASE 2 NOTICE AND HAVE NOT HAD THE RECALL COMPLETED WILL BE NOTIFIED BEGINNING AUGUST 6, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500.

TIRE DESCRIPTION: FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT, SIZE P235/75R15, PRODUCED AT THE DECATUR, ILLINOIS TIRE PLANT AND ALL FIRESTONE RADIAL ATX AND RADIAL ATX II TIRES, SIZE P235/75R15. OPERATION OF THESE TIRES AT LOW INFLATION PRESSURES, HIGH SPEED, AND IN HOT WEATHER, CAN CONTRIBUTE TO SEPARATION OF THE TIRE TREAD.

Remedy: THE REPLACEMENT/REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM FOR THIS CAMPAIGN EXPIRED ON AUGUST 29, 2001. HOWEVER, CUSTOMERS SHOULD CONTACT FIRESTONE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-465-1904 FOR POSSIBLE ASSISTANCE.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH TRW SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES. THE BUCKLE BASE OF THESE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES WERE NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND THEREFORE DO NOT PASS THE LOAD BEARING REQUIREMENT OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 209, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES."

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY BUILD DATE CODES ARE WITHIN THE SUSPECT RANGE. THOSE WITHIN THE SUSPECT DATE CODE RANGE WILL BE REPLACED.
