“I have a 99 jeep grand cherokee laredo and we noticed that the fuel tank skid plate was all rusty. And pieces were falling off. My boyfriend looked at it and come to find out the skid plate is the only thing holding my gas tank in. The one side where the bolts are were all rusted and not even connected so my gas tank was about to fall out of my car and only being held in by the other bolt on the other side. I think this is a true hazard and needs to be recalled asap! Ever jeep I see has the same issue with rusty skid plates over the gas tank. My jeep. Runs grew and body is fine the gas tank skid plate needs to be fix asap recall now! I'm scared to drive my car with my kids in it”Owner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Sep 2015
“For a couple of years now my air bag warning light comes on and an intermittent warning chime (1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo). I have not had it repaired because I can't afford the expense. I don't know if the airbag will deploy when it shouldn't or if it will not deploy when it should. I have seen the same complaint on this safety website and think it should be addressed by jeep.”Owner report · Air Bags · Sep 2014
“The air bag light constantly comes on and chimes on my 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo. It is mostly when I make a left turn. This is a very costly repair. The manufacturer should make a re-call of all these jeeps. What are you waiting for "a terrible accident" I found out that all jeeps made in 1999 have this defect, and nothing has been done about it. “Jeep shuts down while driving at any speed. Will shut down/stall and may start back up or might be 10 minutes or two hours or the next day before it will start again. Stalling has gotten progressively more frequently. I have almost been rear ended twice when it stalls. Been to several mechanics and no one has been able to correct problem. *tr”Owner report · Electrical System · Jan 2014
“I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden I herd a loud noise and before I knew it my truck was filled with smoke and I couldnt see out the wind shield I had to hurry up and get to the side by the guard rail while struggling to see, and I had my kids in the car with me .I had to have it towed to my house my mechanic came to check it and discovered a big hole and when he took the engine out he said you could tell it was there already and the dealership had to patch it up before they sold it to me because it was to perfect and I only had the truck for 1 year. *tr”Owner report · Engine · Jul 2013
“I was driving my jeep in traffic when the front drivers seat dropped at the front left corner. The weld on the seat snapped, and now the seat wobbles from front left to back right, worried that the rest will break when im driving and kill someone or myself in a bad accident. Read hundreds of the same complains and to me it should be a recall and sort it out before its to late.the jeep dealer did not want to know. *tr”Owner report · Seats · Mar 2013

“When I first bought the car used in 2002 I noticed a quick flash of my lights at night on/off/on while driving. Thought I was imagining at the time. It would system shut down only at stops and very infrequent. I drive it daily and now it happens 3-6 times a week with no warning. Total system shut down. Engine stalls and all gauges are off. Loss of brakes and power steering. It has always started back up. At stop lights, on the road at high speed, it used to happen only at stop lights but now it happens anywhere and much more frequent. Very scary. *tr”Owner report · Electrical System · May 2011
“I own a 1999 jeep grand cherokee. The air bag light stays on all the time and the chime for it goes off very often. I have taken it to a dealer and they said that it may be the clock spring. I was later told that many of the models in this year have the same problem. Why are we paying out of pocket for something that is obviously a faulty part on the factory's part? *tr”Owner report · Air Bags · Jan 2010
