2006 Jaguar S-Type: problems, recalls and reliability

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the exhaust system was leaking in three areas. The contact also mentioned that when the fuel tank was refueled to capacity, the fuel leaked to the ground. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 06v418000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and depressing the brakes, she shifted into reverse and there was a sudden acceleration, causing the contact to crash into a pole. The failure occurred without warning. The contact suffered injuries to the right shoulder blade, which extended to her finger tips. The wheel and rear passenger's side panel were extensively damaged. The police were notified and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop for repairs. There was no prior maintenance to the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact there was a recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 05v503000 ( power train:automatic transmission:gear position indication (prndl)) but the VIN was not included in the recall.
