“I was driving during daylight and the dashboard display became barely visible, and then alternated between visible and barely visible several times. “Reverse and front cameras are not functioning. When put in reverse, no camera view is shown and when put back in drive, no camera is shown. Also, no cameras work for parking assistance. “My cameras (front and back) show blue or green signal error screens intermittently. Dealer was not able to replicate, so basically told me to bring it back when it happens all the time. Google search told me that this is a widespread problem, some dealer somewhere must have been able to replicate the issue. Unable to use cameras to monitor for traffic and/or pedestrians. A few examples of when this has happened this morning: Backing out of my driveway, rear camera working, go to drive, front camera green screen. Parallel parking, rear and front cameras not working. “Date: Sunday, XXX at approximately 10:30 AM Location: LAZ Parking Garage, [XXX] Details: While exiting the parking garage at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly engaged automatic braking, causing the vehicle to make contact with a yellow pole in the garage. As a result of the impact, the front fender and bumper sustained damage. There was one occupant in the vehicle (myself), and I was wearing my seatbelt at the time of the incident. “There was a recent recall for the forward collision cameras that were causing breaking issues. This happened 4 or 5 times with the vehicle slamming on the brakes violently. I took it into Tustin Hyundai last month and had the software recall applied. The issue happened again on the 55 highway on June 20th at 6pm going approximately 35mph. “I was driving - the car in front of me signaled they were exiting my lane, I accelerated to pull up - the auto brake triggered for no reason, slamming my car to a stop without my consent. “The contact test drove a 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The contact stated that while stopped, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond as expected. While releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle responded and moved. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. “After purchase, I drove home on the highway and noticed an obvious rattle/vibration. I returned the vehicle 3 times before it was finally discovered that there was a defect in the drive shaft. To hide the defect, during manufacturing multiple balance weights were installed on the same side of the drive shaft to allow it to pass safety checks, despite posing a major safety risk. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Santa Cruz, Tucson, Tucson Hybrid, and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) vehicles. Software in the front cameras may cause the forward collision avoidance system to activate prematurely and unexpectedly apply the brakes.
Remedy: Dealers will update the front camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 17, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 302. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."
Remedy: The instrument panel display software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 22, 2026. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025 Elantra N, 2026 Tucson, Tucson Hybrid, Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV), and Elantra vehicles. The B-pillar impact sensors may have been misassembled, which can delay air bag deployment.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the impact sensor(s), as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 11, 2026.
