2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid: problems, recalls and reliability

“The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V893000 (Trailer Hitches); and the contact became aware that there was no wiring harness on the vehicle after recall repair. The dealer informed the contact that removing the wiring harness and installing a dust cap was included in the recall remedy as provided by the manufacturer. The contact stated that the vehicle was not safe to haul a trailer because the brake lights and turn signals would be inoperable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. “Anytime I put it it in hands-free control on the highway. Even on the small highway normal strip the car swings left and right. “On March 6th, 2026, I spent the day running errands in normal driving conditions and it created a situation that did not charge the battery or switch to gasoline. Several error lights displayed seconds before the car died. The hazard lights failed within 15 minutes of waiting for a tow truck. The dealership service department charged the battery and gave me advice to run the car at least 30 minutes everyday even if runs only in the garage. They told me that it was user error because I don't need to drive a half hour per day. “Third time SUV was parked for multiple days without being started and the main battery did not keep the charge. First time was five days and required a battery jump. Then it was 22 days, and as expected, the battery did not keep the charge and required a jump. This week it was eight days and same thing happened. I know the SUV is a hybrid but the main battery should not be run down to not be able to start the engine after a short time not being started. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light with five vehicles in front of her, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into several unknown vehicles. The driver swerved and crashed into a cement truck to stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. A woman occupying another unknown vehicle sustained head injuries. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver did not sustain any injuries. There were no reported fires. The local dealer was not contacted. “Issue has happened twice now, about 2 months apart. Driving at highway speeds, 60-75 mph, no other cars around, no reason for braking or stopping, the emergency brake comes up for a few seconds, abruptly slowing the car down for no reason. Very scary as the car starts to slow down from a high speed, very jolting. I've complained to Hyundai but they claim they are not aware of the issue and there are no codes the vehicle puts out so they cant investigate further without replicating the issue, but its random and you don't know when its happening.
