“Tl* the contact owns a 2000 hyundai tiburon. The contact noticed extremely strong fuel fumes inside the vehicle for an extended period of time. The vehicle was taken to a dealer several times. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered for a manufacturer recall and provided no solution. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop for further diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure several times and provided no solution. “Since day one of my purchase car tank refuses to fill up ever 3 seconds gas pump stops spitting out gas. Est time to fill tank is 15-20 mins. My car has a check engine light for last 2 months auto store test came up gas evap system failure. Last 3 months strong odor of gas has been coming in car with stong gas fumes. “Fuel tank shut-off problem. Unable to refuel car more than .5 gallon before shut-off valve closes. Problem started slowly and sporadically over 5-year period, and progressed to full-time. Also unable to determine when/if car is fully refueled, 100% of time when adding fuel. Eventually, tank becomes overfilled and gas is spilled nearly 100% of time. Online forums document literally hundreds of similar issues among other owners. “2000 hyundai tiburon problems with seat belts. Both passenger and driver side seat belts do not function as they are supposed to. The belts get stuck in their harnesses and you can't pull-out or put it back. You have to adjust the harness and the stuck belt to be able to get it to work. The car has already been through one recall on this issue but the repair did not fix the issue. “I took my tiburon into the dealership for one problem and was told there was a recall on the manifold. On the paper work it was called a "exhaust recall". A crack was found in the manifold and this was replaced. The dealership that I had bought my car from had not sent me any info on this recall. I still have yet to find any info on this recall. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELTS MAY NOT EXTEND AND RETRACT SMOOTHLY THROUGH THE D-RING GUIDES MOUNTED ON THE BODY PILLARS AFT OF THE DOORS. IF THE SEAT BELTS DO NOT EXTEND AND RETRACT SMOOTHLY, THEY MAY TWIST IN THE D-RING GUIDES AND MAKE IT INCONVENIENT TO EXTEND AND RETRACT THE SEAT BELTS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A STOPPER OVER EACH FRONT SEAT BELT D-RING GUIDE TO ASSIST THE SEAT BELT TO SMOOTHLY EXTEND AND RETRACT. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN DECEMBER 10, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HYUNDAI AT 1-800-633-5151.
