“The driver side visor has flopped down and has needed to be replaced twice. It is very difficult to repair this yourself and I have had to do it twice. This is ridiculous. “The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle suddenly stalled. While attempting to restart the vehicle the message "High Temp Power Reduced" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the Power Control Unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V602000 (Hybrid Propulsion System). “The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at undisclosed speeds, the drive shaft fractured. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was next towed to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the driveshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000. The failure caused the fuel engine to be disabled and the vehicle to function only by battery power. Also, the speed would not exceed 40 mph. Once the battery was discharged, the engine stalled. The contact stated that there was also abnormal fuel consumption due to using 3/4ths of a tank to drive 15 miles. The vehicle was taken jim coleman honda (12441 auto dr., clarksville, md) where it was diagnosed that a rodent ate the rubber fuel line, which would require the fuel tank assembly to be replaced. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles manufactured August 29, 2013, to May 30, 2015. Electrical interference may cause the hybrid system to switch into fail-safe mode, disabling the gasoline engine, limiting the vehicle's speed to 40 miles per hour and functioning only on battery power. Once the battery is discharged, the vehicle will stall.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the hybrid system software, free of charge. The recall began on November 6, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is JT7.
