My starter failed. I took it to a triple AAA authorized mechanic. He did a full diagnosis of the entire starting system and determined that the starter needed to be replaced. He noted that water caused it to fail.Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Feb 2026
The AC system on this car, and seems series of years is widely known to have major issue, as is the case with mine. I'm having issues with the dealer telling me the car is out of warranty 35k miles, 2019 year. Based on researching and talking with other owners they are also having similar issues, AC not cooling well, hot on some vents, works for a time period then stops, etc.Owner report · Electrical System · May 2025

My concern for this vehicle is the panoramic sun roofs / moon roofs. I am hearing a lot of crunching, grinding, cricking, binding coming from panoramic sun roof. Sounds like it's the assembly and glass making noise while driving, Turning into and out of driveways, going over speed bumps, pot holes, etc. My concern is will the sunroof shatter while I'm driving, will it hold up during an accident? This is a safety concern and hazardous. I only have 34000 miles on this car. Multiple people that have/had genesis with panoramic/ moon roofs are/had issues with the same area.Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Mar 2025
Power trunk latch failed. Unable to open trunk. Inside trunk manual safety release latch failed to open trunk. If a child got trapped inside trunk they would be unable to escape. Dealer advised the power trunk release latch failed. Advised thr repair part # 81230-B1010 Latch assembly trunk lid $637.90. Repair labor cost $540.00 The dealer stated they accessed the trunk by removing the rear seat of the vehicle. Which shows the the failed trunk latch and inability to exit via the manual safety release latch is a potential safety issue.Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Dec 2024
At just 41,000 miles, the oil pressure sensor has failed. There are many on-line reports of this issue going back several years for the Genesis G80 sedan. It appears this is NOT covered under the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty and is only covered by the 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty. In my case, this part failed almost 5 years to the day. It is unreasonable that the owner should get stuck with a $1000+ repair bill for a part that has a well known failure reported over and over. This should be a free repair.Owner report · Engine · Dec 2024
Oil pressured sensor went bad $2500 fix from dealer. In Korea this is a recall. The Genesis forums are full of complaints regarding same issue. The factory should cover this but the 10 year 100000 mile warranty does not cover it since it is considered an electrical part.Owner report · Engine · Nov 2024
