“We were driving on the highway when the Trax suddenly made a popping sound, all the electric went off, and then the engine cut off. We lost control of steering for a bit, we're able to get to the side of the road. We had the car towed to the local Chevrolet dealer for diagnostics. The service manager informed me the engine is unrepairable due to a hole in the engine block, likely where the engine threw a rod. In order to get the engine replaced we have to have it towed to a second dealership, which we are in the process of doing now. “The display system on serval occasions has been blinking on and off. I can not touch the entertainment display system and the speedometer display also malfunctions not displaying correct speed and malfunctioning the blinker light, back up camera, etc. I have videos of occurrences which I can not upload. This has happened in multiple occasions. The dates of occupancies are 6/7/26,6/17/26,7/7/26, and 7/8/26. “our vehicle is doing the same identical thing as other 2024 Trax that are under a recall. The dealer is wanting to charge a diagnostic fee to even look at it. This is crazy when other 2024 Trax are under the recall and get it fixed for free. “On XXX, [XXX] was applying her brakes to prepare to turn left into the fire station. Her vehicle suddenly steered to the left causing her vehicle to enter oncoming traffic. This action caused the Chevrolet Trax to collide head on with a passing vehicle. The collision resulted in 2 totaled vehicles and multiple injuries in both vehicles. It has since been brought to our attention that there is a potential class action lawsuit for similar incidents. “It was about [XXX] {XXX} I was driving about seventy five miles an hour down [XXX] heading north to milwaukee, and there was a loud bang, and it seemed like the car went in reverse. “17k miles, head a loud pop sound, engine light came and all the oil and coolant was on the ground, engine was smoking. Had the vehicle towed and was told by the service department the connecting Rod failed which caused the catastrophic engine failure. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Buick Encore GX, Envista, and Chevrolet Trax vehicles. The software in the Virtual Cockpit Unit Module (VCU) may cause the instrument panel display to intermittently go blank at vehicle startup or while driving.
Remedy: The VCU software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 4, 2023. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A232424320.
