The anti-lock brakes on my 1995 chevy tahoe are activating spuriously at slow speeds when braking. This typically happens as I approach a traffic light or stop sign or when parking in a lot. This activation causes an increased stopping distance. It has not resulted in an accident at this time, but I could see how it could. From some online research it appears that it is a known problem with rusting of the speed sensors. It would seem to me that this is a manufacturer problem for which a recall should be initiated to fix. *trOwner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Feb 2009

While trying to stop suddenly the antilock brakes activated on a clean surface extending the stopping distance and subsequently running into vehicle stopped. Speed 30 miles an hour activated ABS and impact at 15-25 mph. *nmOwner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Jun 2005
I drive a 1995 chevy tahoe and almost every time I break the ABS engages at about 10 mph, extending my final stop. I have read that the nhts is investigating this "feature" on 1999-2002 chevy trucks. From what I've heard from other people and experienced myself, I think this defect is very common in a much broader manufacturing time period.Owner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Jan 2005
