“Transmission is hunting for gear when decelerating. Back and forth it tries to change gear. Just started. I have 64,000 miles on the truck. At 22,000 it started shuddering and the fluid was changed which corrected the issue then. At 53,000 the shudder returned and I paid the dealerdealership to replace the torque converter. Now 12,000 miles later I'm having a shifting issue. This Transmission seems to be problematic.”Owner report · Power Train · May 2026
“A well known issue with the torque converter failing due to poor manufacturing and design. Allowing debris to enter the filter system due to the torque converter falling apart. Causing astronomical amounts in repair costs”Owner report · Power Train · Apr 2026
“There is an open recall but my truck is not listed. I was driving around today and my front brakes are not fully releasing. Brakes are hot and do not feel comfortable driving with this issue.Call my local dealership and GM customer service and both say I am out of luck. The recall is a faulty vacuum pump and or an update of the electronic brake control module software. This also happened a few weeks ago in occasion but today was all day. Thanks.”Owner report · Service Brakes · Apr 2026

“My truck only has 72,000 miles on it, yet the lifters in the engine are failing/ malfunctioning. While in drive, it has a hard time shifting into higher gears causing the engine to continue revving but not picking up more speed. A quick google search shows this to be a common issue. GM was made aware of the problem but did not offer much help in resolving the matter. GM specifically stated the NHTSA needs to say it is a safety issue before they will do anything about it.”Owner report · Engine · Mar 2026
“Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 on January 16, 2026. The contact stated that while an independent mechanic was attempting to repair the engine, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy with the vehicle. The vehicle was a private sale. The contact called the private dealer and requested the money back that was paid to purchase the vehicle, and the dealer declined the request. The contact called the State Attorney General's Office and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was approximately 182,000; it was later discovered that the correct mileage was 192,393.”Owner report · Electrical System · Mar 2026
“Rear power sliding window shattered after remote vehicle ignition was started in cold weather last month. It blew outward. There was a recall for this issue, but my Vin # was not included despite it being a 2017 Chevy Silverado. the recall number is: N192265660 Why was my Vin # not included? I am working to now get repaired by Chevy dealership. But questioning its exclusion from recall.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Feb 2026
“Driving home on the interstate my truck started making a knocking sound and the vehicle would shake over 45 miles an hour. We took to a dealer that said the lifters were bad, and potentially caused damage to the cam shaft. There was no warranty. I asked how this happens under 60,000 miles and was told it's just part failure. And with the 6.2 engines, it's a known occurrence. I then see that Chevy 6.2L engines for earlier years had a recall for this same issue but our 2017 was excluded. The dealer quoted $10,500 for repair. But we found a local shop that did the work for around $7500.”Owner report · Engine · Feb 2026
“The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact heard a loud pop and looked in the rearview mirror and became aware that the rear glass had shattered. The contact stated that the temperature was below freezing and that the rear windshield defroster was activated during the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.”Owner report · Visibility · Jan 2026

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked with the defroster activated, there was smoke coming from the rear window, followed by a loud noise. The contact stated that upon turning around, the contact noticed that the driver's side rear window had shattered. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. “1. The vehicle's transmission does not operate consistently and safely. 2. At times, the transmission will not engage, and this has placed my family in very dangerous situations when changing lanes. 3. At red lights, at times, the transmission will not engage to drive. 4. When slowing in traffic at times , the transmission will not adjust to the slower speed, although the operator is applying the brakes. Then, without warning, the transmission will engage the higher speed, almost launching the vehicle forward suddenly, potentially into another vehicle or person, depending on the situation.”Owner report · Engine · Jan 2026
