A tow truck was called and before it arrived the vehicle caught fire and seemed to have started in the steering column. The police were called, extinguished the fire and filed report #10-24586. The tow truck took the vehicle to a storage lot. The contact stated that the vehicle was possibly destroyed. General motors was called. There was no steering ability after this occurred. A mechanic stated that the rear motor mount was loose. The failure mileage was 178,000. Make: buick model: park avenue year: 1995 at start up, there was an explosion. Vehicle caught on fire. If this car was parked next to a home or in a garage this would have drastic consequences. While driving at 30 mph the car lost power steering. I was able to pull to the side of the road. The car was towed to a repair shop, where they found that the three bolts holding the power steering pump broke off in the engine block. They replaced the bolts at a cost of $275. Dt*: the contact stated while driving at 60 mph, in a hard rain, on an interstate highway, the driver side frontal air bag deployed without warning. The vehicle was safely maneuvered to the side of the highway. The contact was treated for minor abrasions to the face and a police report was filed. The service dealer and manufacturer were notified. THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP LENS HAS AN INCORRECT AIM PAD NUMBER ON THE LENS. THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT."

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP ON VEHICLES WITH THE CORRECT OUTBOARD LOWER PAD NUMBER.
