P0750: Shift Solenoid A
A generic powertrain (engine and transmission) trouble code, same meaning on every brand.
Moderately - the transmission will misbehave predictably rather than dangerously.
Symptoms
- Missing gears or wrong-gear starts
- Harsh 1-2 shift
- Limp mode in some cases
Likely causes, most common first
- Shift solenoid A electrical fault
- Internal harness in the transmission
- Degraded fluid gumming the solenoid
Read P0750 yourself before paying for diagnosis
A basic Bluetooth OBD-II scanner ($20-40) plugs into the port under the dashboard and shows this code with live sensor data on your phone - useful both for confirming the fix and for talking to a shop from an informed position.
What is going on and how it gets diagnosed
P0750 flags shift solenoid A - one of the electro-hydraulic valves that route pressure to select gears. Its siblings P0755, P0760 and P0765 cover the rest of the set; which gears go missing depends on the transmission's solenoid chart.
On many units the solenoids sit on the valve body under the pan - a manageable repair. Old fluid is both cause and clue: burnt fluid means the diagnosis should widen beyond one solenoid.
Repair options and cost
Typical US independent-shop ranges, parts and labor. Dealers run higher; regional labor rates vary.

I was told replacing shift solenoid a might take care of the problem but then again unknowingly could be a ecm issue or even the whole transmission that needs to be replaced.
