What is going on and how it gets diagnosed
P0522 reports the oil pressure signal at the bottom of its range. Electrically that is what a short to ground looks like, and sensors do fail this way - but so does an engine that has genuinely lost pressure, and the code cannot tell you which.
The safe order is: stop, check the level, listen. A quiet engine with correct oil and a zero reading is very likely a sensor or wiring fault. A noisy engine with the same reading is not something to drive to the workshop, and the cost of a tow is trivial beside the cost of the alternative.
