“My wife was parking our Volvo 2026 XC60 in a parking slot at our local grocery store. Upon pulling into the slot, the car suddenly accelerated and surged forward colliding with the car in the next parking slot and the car in the parking slot directly in front of her. She jammed on the brakes as hard as she could causing the tires to screech. The impact was great enough to shove the car in front of her out into the open isle in front. Luckily, no body was hurt. This could have been a deadly disaster if there were pedestrian near by at the moment of impact. The police came but did not write up an accident report since it was on private property and no one was hurt.”Owner report · Forward Collision Avoidance · Jul 2026
“Volvo 2025 XC60 T8. Rear liftgate closed without request nearly causing an eye injury. The liftgate was open, I was moving back and forth emptying packages from the cargo area. I turned to return to the car and the liftgate had started to come down (unrequested. I had NOT pushed the physical button on the liftgate or on the key fob). My eye was within 2 in of hitting the corner of the liftgate. I am taking the car to the dealer to report the incident. I do not see any active recalls posted for this safety issue.”Owner report · Structure · Jul 2026
“While parked in full sun the windshield cracked spontaneously, perhaps the result of thermal expansion. The linear length of the resulting crack was over 12 inches, running through the center sensor array. The car was inspected by a Volvo Service Center manager who found no evidence of impact. Nevertheless, Volvo conducted a formal inspection at an offsite facility and declined to warrant the defect. Spontaneous windshield failure is a clear risk to drivers and passengers.”Owner report · Visibility/Wiper · Apr 2026

“Car is 16 months old and a plug in hybrid. After replacement of the 12 volt battery, the on board charger, and the wiring harness due to complete system failure, I picked up the car from service. Within an hour of having the car back, the dashboard suddenly went blank while I was driving. There was no warning or notice. This presented a safety issue as I was using GPS and relying on directions at the time. I pulled over and turned off the car and tried to "reset" the dashboard and was unable to do so after several tries. I returned the car to the dealership where they were unable to immediately fix it.”Owner report · Back Over Prevention · Dec 2025
“The contact owns a 2025 Volvo XC60. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the rear driver's side wheel. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the rear driver's side brake pads needed to be replaced. The driver's and passenger's side brakes were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.”Owner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Dec 2025
“The rear tailgate has a feature that allows a driver to open it by waving their foot underneath the bumper in case their hands are full. The system will also unsafely cause the door to close if a person places their foot too close when loading cargo. This has twice lowered the door on my head. The most recent time causing bleeding when the latch struck my scalp. This feature should only be used to open the gate, not close it.”Owner report · Structure · Nov 2025
“Information/GPS system randomly goes completely blank/black. This possess a significant safety issue as it happens while driving in heavy city traffic where there is no way to stop and wait for the system to come back online. This has caused missed turns and the need to drive with no way of knowing where we are going. The inability to rely on the GPS system makes the 3 month old, brand new car virtually undrivable as we have nzero confidence in the navigation system.”Owner report · Electrical System · Oct 2025
“The 360 camera system stopped working on my 2025 Volvo XC60 PHEV today without warning. When I put the vehicle in reverse, the camera view window showed up on the screen with a top down of the vehicle, but the surroundings were black and each camera symbol showed up as orange with a cross out through it. Rebooting the system twice did not solve the issue. The software version is 3.7.0 which is the most up to date release.”Owner report · Visibility/Wiper · Aug 2025
“Backup camera failed while backing up. 07/28/2025 Screen went black. Other computer controlled functions also failed concurrently, e.g, climate control, audio warnings, map display Screen blackout has happened several times while driving, but backup camera failure while car was backing up was worse.”Owner report · Back Over Prevention · Jul 2025
“Camera intermittently stops working with "Camera temporarily unavailable" message. This last a day or two and then it "fixes itself". This is a safety issue that MUST be fixed, Volvo has known about this for years and has done nothing to fix it.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Jun 2025
