“I started my car and drove to a local 7-11 on my way to work and could not turn the key to shut the engine off. I proceeded to work and asked my friend to help me. After a struggle he got the key out,and 3 days later parked my car at a clients only to not be able to start the car. I believe this is an essential part that should not be going defective an the dealer told me that their was no visible damage or reason to why it happened. “As I was driving down the highway in normal driving conditions the ABS light, electronic stability control light, steering wheel fault warning light and the check engine light lit up without any warning prompting a fault description on my center dash saying "fault: ABS/electronic stabilization control". From my research this fault was also found in the 2009 (mk5) gti which shares the same engine, electrical components and drivetrain as the 2010-2014 (mk6). On the different volkswagen forums within the community it is still an apparent fault with the car with hundreds of inquiries about how to repair and fix this problem on our own.”Owner report · Service Brakes · Jan 2018

Recalls - 1 campaign
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC, and Passat, 2010-2013 Eos, 2011-2014 Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Tiguan, and 2012-2014 Jetta Sportwagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-822-8987.
