2024 Toyota Grand Highlander: problems, recalls and reliability

“Vehicle intermittently fails to accelerate when accelerator pedal is depressed after stopping. Vehicle may move extremely slowly for several seconds and then suddenly regain power. This has occurred while entering/intersecting traffic and has resulted in near-collision situations. “I have a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander (FWD Gas) with about 37,000 miles and had 2 wheel bearings fail - front right and rear right. I noticed a constant humming noise starting around 20-25 mph that increased with vehicle speed. Thinking it was tire noise, I replaced all 4 tires, and the sound was still present. The dealership first replaced the right front bearing, and when they drove it after the repair, they noticed the sound decreased but did not eliminate the noise, and they further diagnosed a failed rear wheel bearing.”Owner report · Wheels · Aug 2026

“Sometimes, when trying to accelerate in certain situations, the vehicle accelerator pedal will not respond or the engine stutters and won't immediately respond to input and the vehicle seems to stall. This has been scary several times in traffic. The contact believed that the odor was caused by a fuel leak. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with an evaporator filter failure, and it was determined that a fuel leak was not the cause of the odor. The dealer stated that the vehicle did not require a repair and could still be driven with the odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.
