2015 Toyota Camry: problems, recalls and reliability

“The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring the steering wheel be manually returned to center upon completing a turn. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the steering sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V144000 (Steering), but the VIN was not included. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to decelerate, there was an abnormal sound while depressing the brake pedal and the brake went to the floorboard. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake master cylinder and brake pump might need to be replaced. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH and attempting to slow the vehicle, the contact became aware that the brake pedal required increased effort to depress to slow the vehicle. The ABS, stability control, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed failures with the brake booster and brake booster pump assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21TE03. “I have the same issue described in a recall notice for my year make and model. My EPS light is coming on and I'm losing power to the vehicle. My VIN was not included in the recall. Steering: Electric power assist system Recall date 2015-03-12 Recall no.15V144000. This is very concerning as it could cause an accident resulting in injuries or death. “I was in an accident going approximately 35 mph. The car was deemed a total loss after inspection. There was damage to both left and right bumper, hood and pretty much the entire front of the car crumpled. The airbags did not deploy at all.
