“The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the ABS, vehicle stability control, brakes, and TPMS warning lights illuminated. The contact merged over to the side of the road and opened the Owner's manual. The contact read that due to the warning lights being illuminated, the vehicle should not be driven. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed with, TPMS battery replacement, a leak inside of the accumulator, and a fractured actuator assembly failure. The contact stated that he had to manually hold up the sun visor while driving. The contact stated that the failure caused his vision to be obstructed while driving. Modesto toyota (4513 mchenry ave, modesto, ca 95356, (209) 529-2933) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was advised to schedule a diagnostic test but declined to do so. “Tl* the contact owns a 2011 toyota camry hybrid. The contact stated while his wife was driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. In order, to stop the vehicle the emergency brake pedal had to be depressed. The vehicle was taken to autonation arapahoe (10531 e arapahoe rd, centennial, co 80112, 303-578-6111) who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that multiple functions of the brake system had failed but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact of an extended warranty for the vehicle, but the contact stated that do not cover the failure. “Brake actuator comes on often and loudly. The dealership will not replace until it fails. The service managers response is: yes we have confirmed it is starting to fail yes we have confirmed it is louder than normal yes, if it fails while driving you will lose power braking and your anti-lock brakes. Yes, I would definitely say that it will fail within the extended warranty period of 4 more years or 150,000 miles. But no, we will not replace it under either the warranty program or the $2,200 bumper to bumper extended warranty purchased from toyota directly. “I drove to work in the morning with no warning lights on the car and it operated fine. After leaving work for the day, I pulled out of the parking lot on to the main road and then the brake light, master failure light, ABS light and another light lit up on the dash and I pushed the brake to stop the vehicle to figure out what was going on and the brake did not stop the car, so I push the brake as hard as I could to get it to stop and it stuttered about 10 times before coming to a complete stop. I then called a tow truck to take the car to the dealership because it was not safe to drive without the brakes. “Driver side sun visor became loose and did not retain its position. It dropped down and blocked my vision causing me to veer off the road. Sun visor then detached completely from hinge. “This is the second time the fog light has broken on this vehicle since I bought it new in 2011. I believe this is a very costly design flaw that toyota refuses to take responsibility for. Recalls - 2 campaigns
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain models interspersed through model years 2009 through 2013 as follows: model year 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, and RAV4; model year 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid; model year 2010-2013 model year Corolla, Sienna and Tundra; model year 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza; model year 2012 Prius V; and model year 2010-2012 Sequoia. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.
Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will test the sensitivity of the occupant detection sensors, and recalibrate them as necessary. The recall began on March 21, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.
Southeast Toyota is recalling certain model year 2008 and 2010-2013 Toyota Tundra, 2010-2012 Rav4, 2012 Toyota Sequoia, 2010-2011 Toyota Corolla, 2010-2011 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2010-2013 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2010-2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2010-2013 Toyota Venza, 2010-2011 Toyota 4Runner, 2010-2013 Toyota Tacoma, 2011-2012 Toyota Sienna, 2012 Toyota Prius, 2013 Scion FR-S, 2011 Scion XD, 2011 Scion XB, and 2012 Scion TC vehicles. These vehicles were sold with labels that were outside the allowable one percent of accuracy of actual weight added. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners and provide a corrected label with instructions concerning its installation. A small group of the affected vehicles will need additonal remedies which are still being developed. The recall began on May 28, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.
