The contact stated that while in reverse and backing into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration causing the vehicle to drive over a curb and crash into a fence. The contact indicated that while pressing the brake pedal the vehicle accelerated. During the incident, no injuries were reported. No police report was taken. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic test located failure code: dtcb1312. The mechanic stated that the front passenger seat needed to be replaced. When air was placed into the tire, the rear passenger tire experienced the same failure. Due to the tire failures, the vehicle experienced independent veering. The vehicle was taken to roberts tire shop where it was diagnosed that there were no leaks in the tires. The vehicle was also taken to an unknown mechanic where it received an alignment; however, the vehicle swayed. The failure was not corrected. “This is my wife's vehicle, but while I was driving it , noticed that the visibility to the front left side about 45 degrees to the left is very limited, narrow and almost non-existent while the driver seat is all the way back and with the backrest in a normal position. Is a very difficult to see incoming traffic on a left curve in small rural roads. This is because the narrow width of the front windshield and the wide reinforcement between the driver side door, the small side window and the windshield. “I got in the car, started it up and the air bag light came on with the passengers restraint light. I ran a scan and the seat sensor failed. 2 grand to repair it. No one sits on this side. Recalls - 2 campaigns
Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2006-2011 Grand Vitara and 2007-2011 SX4 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, over time, the OCS sensor mat installed in the front passenger seat may fail due to repeated flexing of the mat from use of the seat. As a result, during a crash necessitating deployment, the air bag will deploy regardless of whether the front seat occupant is an adult or a child.
Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners and dealers will replace the front passenger seat cushion assembly (which includes the OCS sensor mat) free of charge. Sufficient quantities of parts are not currently available to fix all of the affected vehicles. Owners will be notified of the recall in October 2013 and will receive a second notification when parts are available to have their vehicle repaired. The recall began on May 23, 2014. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's recall campaign number is VD.
SUZUKI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007 SX4 HATCHBACK AND MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 SX4 HATCHBACK AND SEDAN PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE THREE SCREWS THAT SECURE EACH OF THE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS TO THE MIRROR BASE CAN COME LOOSE DUE TO VIBRATION.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BASE SCREWS ON BOTH OUTER REAR VIEW MIRRORS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 5, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-887-697-8985 OR VISIT SUZUKI'S WEBSITE AT HTTP://WWW.SUZUKIAUTO.COM.
