“Road salt rusting out brake lines at junction right in font of right rear wheel. Vehicle lost breaking. Pedal went to the floor, had to pump the brakes and use hand brake to stop. “The vvl pressure switch housing unit chipped causing oil to spill all over the engine and makes the oil I put back in the car jus tleak right back out the next day. The contact stated that while driving about 60 mph, the vehicle in front rear-ended the vehicle ahead of it and caused the contact's vehicle to rear end the vehicle. The contact stated that none of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The contact's vehicle was totaled and was towed to a tow yard. The dealer was not contacted and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. “Takata recall. I received a letter from subaru today stating that my car is affected by the recall, but that they don't expect to have sufficient parts to begin repairs until march 31, 2018. I am not happy that I will have to wait such a long time to have my car fixed and would like to know whether the dealerships should be forced to make repairs on a faster, more aggressive time table. SUBARU IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2002-2007 IMPREZA, MODEL YEAR 2003-2008 FORESTER, AND MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 SAAB 9-2X VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 5, 2000 THROUGH NOVEMBER 26, 2007 ORIGINALLY SOLD, OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN, MASSACHUSETTS, MARYLAND, MICHIGAN, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, VERMONT, WISCONSIN, CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, IOWA, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, MAINE, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW JERSEY, OHIO, RHODE ISLAND, WEST VIRGINIA AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS MAY BREAK AT THE HANGER BRACKETS DUE TO CORROSION IF THE HANGER BRACKET IS EXPOSED TO SALTY AND HUMID ENVIRONMENTS SUCH AS ROADS CONTAINING SNOW MELTING AGENT.
Remedy: SUBARU WILL HANDLE THEIR VEHICLES AND SAAB WILL HANDLE THEIRS. DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE DEGREE OF CORROSION OF THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AND WILL EITHER RUSTPROOF OR REPLACE THEM. These vehicles may be equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front air bags, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Subaru will notify their owners. General Motors will notify Saab owners. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began August 26, 2016.
