“Tl*the contact owns a 1994 pontiac firebird. The contact stated that the plastic clip on the hood of the vehicle failed. The clip assists in preventing the fuel lines from making a connection. There are exposed fuel lines located on the top of the engine. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign # 93v199000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings), but her VIN is not included. The contact is aware of the safety risk involved and the possibility of a fire. The dealer has not diagnosed the vehicle. The engine size and fuel system were unknown. “NHTSA#93-v-199-000: fuel lines on these vehicles may have been misrouted and may contact the "air" check valve. The high temperatures from the "air" check valve could allow it to melt through and damage a fuel line. “The ABS do not lock up sometimes when I slow down at an intersetion. The door skins on both doors have become separated seversal times which makes the car doors not shut all the way which has almost caused me and others our lives. The power windows and locks always break so that I can not open my door or windows they also come off track . The windshield wipers scratch the windshield so it has to be replaced and they do not wipe the whole windshield which leaves blind spots in my point of sight causing me to pull over to not cause recks.”Owner report · Structure · Jan 2000
“I was driving down I-4 when car seem to lose power, so I took next available exit. I shut the ignition off, heard what sounded like a backfire. At that moment of shut off smoke started from under the hood, both sides and then into the inside of my car. I and passerby's tried to extinguish fire but it was to hot and hopeless. Fire dept. Arrived very quickly but the front of my car is cooked. Please help me, the car was running perfectly right to that point! I noticed several other fires. CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS NOT BEARING A DATE CODE IN THIS RANGE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. THE GASKET OF THE OIL FILTER BECOMES MORE PLIABLE UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED OIL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING NOVEMBER 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLL-FREE AT 1-800-890-2075.
CERTAIN AJ MOTORSPORT COMBINATION LAMPS SOLD AS REPLACEMENT LAMPS FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED PASSENGER VEHICLES. COMBINATION LAMPS NOT EQUIPPED WITH AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS FAIL TO CONFORM WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.
Remedy: AJ MOTORSPORT WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE LAMPS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 31, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AJ MOTORSPORT AT 626-618-2026.
THE FUEL LINES ON THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN MISROUTED AND MAY CONTACT THE "AIR" CHECK VALVE. THE HIGH TEMPERATURES FROM THE "AIR" CHECK VALVE COULD ALLOW IT TO MELT THROUGH AND DAMAGE A FUEL LINE.
Remedy: REROUTE ANY MISROUTED FUEL LINES TO THE PROPER POSITION, AND REPLACE ANY FUEL LINE BUNDLE WHERE THE OUTER SHELL HAS BEEN MELTED THROUGH.
