“The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact stated that while stopped at an intersection with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle accelerated forward inadvertently. The contact had her husband inspect the vehicle and while he attempted to start the vehicle with his foot depressed on the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated forward. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. “My daughter was driving the eclipse, she turned onto a side street and the car spun out of control causing her to hit a parked car. The passenger side tire is sideways, I have pictures of the car after the accident. My insurance company totaled the car. The police are saying she was at fault for the accident. “Tl* the contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi eclipse. While driving 70 mph, the contact struck an animal and lost control of the vehicle. The contact struck a guardrail and the vehicle flipped over several times before landing in an embankment. The contact stated that the curtain air bags deployed on the driver side. All the other air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a contusion and sprained wrist, which required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was awaiting appraisal from the contact's insurance adjuster. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. “I received a safety recall notice from mitsubishi motors in july of 2015. The notice is regarding a defect with the antilock breaking system hydraulic unit. The letter says I will be notified when the parts are available. I have called the local mitsubishi dealership and they say the parts are not reading I am still on a wait list. When operating the car sometimes the breaks go quite far down towards the floor. “ABS recall. Notified of recall warning of possible " reduction in braking performance, increasing a risk of crash without warning". Notified of recall in july 2015. Manufacturer refuses to to provide th required repairs unless " there is problem that can be verified by a dealership". “I received a safety recall notice in july of 2015. It is now five months later and they still haven't fixed the issue. My brake pedal sometimes doesn't work properly and makes a sucking sound when the pedal is released. I called mitsubishi and they said to bring it to a dealership for a road test and that my brakes would be flushed and checked. I made an appointment with the dealership 50 miles away and was turned away upon arriving because they can't fix the problem. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Eclipse vehicles manufactured April 20, 2005, to February 13, 2009, and 2007-2009 Eclipse Spyder vehicles manufactured December 23, 2005, to February 13, 2009. Due to corrosion inside the antil-lock brake system (ABS) unit, one or more of the internal valves may seize. In a braking event that uses the ABS, a seized valve would increase brake pedal travel and reduce braking ability.
Remedy: MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, flush and clean the ABS hydraulic unit using high grade brake fluid, free of charge. If the inspection shows that the valves may seize, the ABS unit will be replaced. The recall began on July 21, 2015. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-15-004.
