“The contact owns a 2014 Mazda Mazda5. The contact stated that while driving over a minor bump in the roadway at any rate of speed, the brake pedal would depress to floorboard without warning. The contact stated that the brakes would resume normal operation soon after failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to three separate independent mechanics however, each mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. “Since purchase from dealer, the tires consistently developed edge wear /cupping on the inner edge of both front and back. The first set were replaced after approx 23k miles. After approx 25k miles the same pattern of wear had occurred front and back. At first when the car was purchased, alignment was inspected and I was told the matter was probably due to poor tires. The contact stated that there was a 1-2-inch gap between the door and the door latch. The contact reached out to the local dealer to have the vehicle inspected however, the contact was unable to schedule an appointment for the vehicle to be inspected. “I own a 2014 mazda 5. After two years of ownership. The number 1 and 4 cylinder rod bearings failed completely. It happened while the car was in motion. Proper oil changes was maintained during this period. They took the motor apart found clean oil, and shavings.”Owner report · Engine · Jun 2017
“Sunroof shattered while doing normal driving. Nothing hit the sunroof or the car, the sunroof simply shattered and glass fell on me, and my children. “The car was sitting in the driveway and an eight inch cracked developed. There were not any chips in the windshield and it looked like it was a stress crack. Was not very happy. When investigating I learned that there are a lot of other people with the same problem. Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 vehicles manufactured November 18, 2008, to June 8, 2013, 2012-2015 Mazda5 vehicles manufactured October 26, 2010, to June 22, 2015, 2016 CX-3 vehicles manufactured June 1, 2015, to December 26, 2015, and 2013-2016 CX-5 vehicles manufactured December 15, 2011, to December 26, 2015. On the affected vehicles, the lift gate support struts may corrode, possibly causing the struts to break and/or the lift gate to drop unexpectedly.
Remedy: Mazda dealers will replace the both lift gate supports, free of charge, however parts are not currently available. The recall began April 2017. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 9916H.
