Sunroof tempered glass spontaneous explosion. Loud explosion startled me and my wife, good thing the sliding roof cover was closed otherwise small pieces of sharp glasses will hit us on our head, face and shoulders. Lexus of Oakland denied any product defect and blaming a foreign "magnetic" object hit the sunroof. I was only driving 20 mph in a residential neighborhood and no cars in front of me when the sunroof exploded. No warning lamp or symptoms prior to the incident. My wife and I were scared!Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Jun 2026
My less than a year old Lexus GX550 was sitting in the driveway and the sunroof exploded. The car was not moving and it exploded outwards into a ton of pieces. The dealership claims that it is not a warrantable part. No foreign object hit the sunroof, even then it shouldn't shatter, only crack. It is my assumption that defective glass from the factory was installed into my vehicle and caused the sunroof to shatter for no apparent reason.Owner report · Unknown Or Other · May 2026

There is a significant squeal when braking at low speed in both forward and reverse. I am unsure whether this is a safety issue or not, but there is evidence online that other owners are experiencing the same issue.Owner report · Service Brakes · Feb 2026
The driver side mirror shakes around 45 to 50 miles an hour plus. The passenger side mirror at the same speeds stays true and does not vibrate. While I am driving mostly on the highway the driver side mirror shakes or bounces up and down which distorts the images behind me. It is a safety concern where I am getting dizzy while driving. I brought the car back to the dealership Lexus of Pembroke Pines, and they replaced the entire mirror assembly, but it is having the same problem again. The car is not even two weeks old. The constant vibration is a legitimate safety concern and prevents me from safely operating this vehicle.Owner report · Visibility/Wiper · Sep 2025
On July 19th, with less than 100 miles on the odometer, the vehicle began down and upshifting so hard that it felt like a collision. Additionally, when attempting to accelerate, the transmission would hunt for gears without engaging, resulting in loss of power - creating a very dangerous situation. Lexus is unable to identify a resolution and has had the vehicle in the shop for 2+ weeksOwner report · Power Train · Jul 2025
