“The frame of the vehicle is rusting out. There are thousands of these trucks on the road with this issue. Land rover used inferior metals and rust protection. The safety of the vehicle in a crash is severely compromised.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Apr 2019
“Tl* the contact owned a 2000 land rover discovery ii. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and smoke filled the cabin. After stopping the vehicle, flames appeared under the hood. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.”Owner report · Engine · Aug 2016
“I own a 2000 land rover discovery. Currently, it has 67,000 miles on it and I purchased it at 60,000 miles. Shortly after my 60,000 mile check at the dealer, the drive shaft and u joints had to be replaced. Without warning, I lost power and had to pull to the side of the road. I am not in warranty, but my local mechanic stated that this is a very common problem with land rovers (even low-mileage ones). I think land rover should recall these vehicles and fix this seemingly ubiquitous problem. *tr”Owner report · Power Train · Jul 2008

“While driving approximately 25-30 mph, the front drive shaft on my 2000 land rover discovery ii failed causing immediate loss of propulsion. The vehicle is currently waiting to be repaired as a new front drive shaft, including universals and flanges, needs to be installed. *jb”Owner report · Power Train · Oct 2007
“I purchased my 2000 land rover discovery last february and a few days after purchase the traction control, anti lock light, ABS and down hill light came on. Went to dealership and they want me to replace the ABS module over $3000 parts and labor. This is just crazy as many others have the same issue. Please let me know if I have a legitimate complaint as I found many more with this issue at sites such as http://landroverforums.com/ and others. I did replace this part with a used one but same thing. Thank you in advance! *tr”Owner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Feb 2007
“While driving to work, my seat heater in my leather seat burned through the leather resulting in burn damage to my clothing and my skin on my left leg. *nm”Owner report · Seats · Dec 2006
“ABS, hill decent control (hdc) and traction control (tc) warning lights came on simultaneously. Web search indicates that a lot of people with 1999 and 2000 land rovers have this problem. Land rover says there is no recall. *nm”Owner report · Electrical System · Sep 2006
“The "spiral cassette" on my 2000 land rover discovery has failed three times (about every 30,000 miles or two years). When this happens, the srs light comes on and I have been told that my airbag srs is not functional. I have had it replaced and not "tested" the air bag. It has now failed again. This seems to be a defective design or consistently defective manufacturing which leads to failure of a vital safety system. I would like you to investigate to determine the extent of this problem and whether or not a recall is necessary. I believe the part is "yrc100350 rotary cassette" *jb”Owner report · Air Bags · Aug 2006
“2000 land rover discovery ii. 1st I had the service engine soon light on and after spending almost $600.00 to extinguish the light, I drove the vehicle for (4) days, now all the lights are on. I checked on a land rover forum and they said the ABS / tc lights are an ongoing problem with this vehicle and there should be a recall. Everyone is spending a fortune. My land rover just came out of warranty (of course!). *jb”Owner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Jan 2006
“ABS, traction control & hill decent control functions fail simultaneously. ABS failure on a 2000 land rover discovery is significant. *jb”Owner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Dec 2005
