“Driving on three lane highway at 60 mph the car abruptly lost power. Was able to get off the highway. Called Kia roadside assistance. Tow truck picked up car and delivered it to Kia dealership. Service dept diagnosed and is replacing the ICCU.”Owner report · Electrical System · Jun 2026
“The door closed sensor fails intermittently. This causes the car to sound an alarm while driving, prevents locking of the doors, and results in automated sudden braking at low speeds, such as in heavy stop & go traffic, causing a significant crash hazard. When it engages in the emergency braking routine, it shifts out of gear, so you can’t prevent a rear collision by simply accelerating, you must rapidly shift the car into gear, first.”Owner report · Electrical System · Jun 2026

“As I was driving, there was a loud pop that came from the rear of the car. The vehicle immediately flashed a warning to “check electrical systems”. I pulled over as quickly as possible but was faced with reduced acceleration. I ended up stuck in a parking lot awaiting a tow truck for over an hour with my dog and my wife in the car headed to a surgery appointment. “2025 KIA EV6 ICCU (part#36401 1XFD5) failed at 2,658 miles. Failure occurred when power was applied after reversing out of a parking space, switching to drive and applying power. No safety issues as vehicle remained controllable. Vehicle went into "limp" mode. Build date of vehicle is 6/20/2025. KIA Dealer has replaced failed ICCU with updated unit (part#36400 1XFD6). “KIA has created a safety hazard by removing the ability for the driver to select LIGHT or DARK mode for the two 7" data and infotainment screens in their 2025 and forward EV6 electric cars. Like many, I have to drive in very fast busy commuter traffic on highway I-66. (exaserbated by driving into the sun in the AM) The DARK mode screens have insufficient contrast even with the screen lighting turned all the way up. It takes the drivers eyes away from the road longer than is safe, particularly in high speed freeway commuter traffic. This is seriously exacerbated if the driver uses sunglasses because of the sun.
