My 2001 jaguar xj8 has less than 42,000 miles on it...while driving at an approximate speed of 30 mph, it suddenly slowed to barely a crawl, and the instrument panel stated that the vehicle had no ABS and trac power. Fortunately, I was on main streets and not a highway, as this could have been detrimental to both my safety and the motoring public in general. After going online to research this problem, I am finding similar complaints. I have not yet taken it to a repair shop, but my research shows that a module would need to be replaced at a cost of $1500!!! This defect should be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer. *trOwner report · Electrical System · Dec 2007

My 2001 jaguar xj8 with 43,000 miles suddenly reported problems with ABS and trac systems on the dashboard readout. Dealer checked it and said a module needed replacement (total cost of about $1500). Although the warranty period was past, with such low mileage, I felt such a safety defect should be taken care of by jaguar north america. I wrote them but they refused. I also pointed out they should have a recall, as the dealer told me this was quite common. I think this is something that should be looked into, if ABS failures occur so soon in what otherwise is a very good automobile. *trOwner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Aug 2007
