“The vehicle splash safety shield has been a big problem . A few times it has made bump noises while slowly driving through speed bumps slowly or on street where there is a low crossway. Today it started making noise and I did not realize that it had loosen . While parking it made a grinding noise underneath the front. While angling to park it jammed underneath the car and would not allow the car to move forward or back. I’m lucky it didn’t happened while driving in the street or fwy. A friend help me to remove it from underneath. The safety shield is not strong nor sturdy I have the damaged splash safety shield in my possession.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Jun 2026
“While driving to work my engine of my Hyundai Elantra Hybrid caught fire. The fire was able to be put out but there are no active recalls currently on my vehicle. All of the safety sensors turned on and off and my car locked and would not move. I couldn't go anywhere it was stopped. I started seeing smoke coming out of the front and opened my hood to find a flame burning to the lower right-hand side of my engine. The flame was small, but I moved away and called 911. The flame grew and went through the hood toward the windshield. The interior was not damaged just the engine. The fire dept was able to neutralize the fire.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Apr 2026

“HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE ----- 2025 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid (blue trim) The instrument panel showed Hybrid System Failure, and the ENGINE DIED on the freeway at 70 mph. Luckily, I was able to pull to the right shoulder on a busy freeway. I tried restarting the car, but the instrument panel turned off after one second for the first two tries, and then nothing would turn on. I had it towed to Lithia Hyundai of Fresno on February 11, 2025. The car is still at the dealer being diagnosed and repaired for Hybrid System Failure with Total Power Loss. Extremely dangerous to have the engine cut out at 70 mph on a busy freeway.”Owner report · Power Train,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System · Feb 2026
“Car was operating fine, then when we got on the highway, we noticed the check engine light had come on but were unable to get off the highway. The vehicle then began slowing down despite pressing down on the gas pedal. Vehicle continued to slow to about 15mph and we were hit by another car.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other,Engine · Jan 2026
“The “consider taking a break” is extremely distracting and this feature is unable to be disabled. Spurious alarms create a distracting, unsafe driving condition, contrary to what it is aiming for.”Owner report · Lane Departure · Jan 2026
“The car has a "take a coffee break"warning light that dings when it comes on. It will randomly go off even if you don't leave your lane or cross a line. It's distracting and sometimes will go off if you have to veer around an object in the road making you think there's some other issue that you have missed, like a car beside you or something. Other times it will go off if you're just driving down the middle of the lane but wind is shaking the car, distracting you making you think there's an actual issue. There appears to be no way to turn this "feature" off and in traffic is very distracting and could cause an accident.”Owner report · Lane Departure · Nov 2025
“Minor issue, but when driving this vehicle, I keep getting alerts asking if I want to take a coffee break. Unable to turn this feature off and it is very distracting, causing me to check screen at random times while I am driving when I should be focused on the road.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Oct 2025
“When driving there’s a feature that flashes across the screen saying consider taking a break and makes noise. This happens especially during inclement weather and is an incredible distraction that I cannot disable.”Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Sep 2025
“The “consider taking a break” warning pops up way too frequently and cannot be disabled. It completes the exact opposite of its intended purpose, and actually is a danger to driving, as it diverts your attention away from the road. It has no maximum warnings either - so it can divert your attention and distract you every few minutes for as long as you are driving.”Owner report · Lane Departure · Sep 2025
