While driving the car, the lower front control arm corroded through and broke. Car was very unstable and tires wore down fast. There was a previous recall on this control arm it was campaign number 02v341000. Service was done by hyundai in 9/2003 and part corroded and broke in 1/2007. NHTSA campaign 95v00300; hyundai issued a high/low dimmer switch recall. This vehicle was not included in the recall, but the lights came on by itself while the vehicle was off and the high beams came on unexpectedly. During summer months, the high tempature effects my 1995 hyundai accent. The transmission has trouble shifting from first gear to second. This problem only happens when it is hot outside or I have taken a long drive, like on the highway. I have had transmission specialists examine the transmission and test all the sensors twice. The front lower control arm corroded without warning. Recall 02v341000 was issued, however this vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN. *ak the lower front control arm corroded due to salt. The dealer would not honor the recall. Received manufacturer's recall # 058 concerning front lower control arm: vehicle was taken to the dealer. Dealer inspected the vehicle , and despite a crack along the lower control arm, the only action was to spray a rust retardant on the lower control arm. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, who informed the consumer that the recall work was not completed on the vehicle. The dealer claimed that recall repairs were done and that they were no longer obligated to do work for free. The manufacturer had been notified of the problem.*akOwner report · Suspension · Oct 2003

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE FOLLOWING "SALT BELT" STATES: CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, AND WISCONSIN. DURING WINTER MONTHS, THE ROAD SALT USED TO DE-ICE ROADS CAN RESULT IN CORROSION THAT CAUSES PITS TO FORM ON THE LOWER COIL OF THE FRONT SPRINGS ALLOWING CRACKS TO DEVELOP. THIS CAN RESULT IN BREAKAGE OF THE LOWER SPRING COIL.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SPRING GUIDE TO PREVENT A BROKEN COIL SPRING FROM CONTACTING AND DAMAGING A TIRE.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH95V043000 · Mar 1995

THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAN BE CONTACTED BY THE CLUTCH PEDAL ASSEMBLY WHEN THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE ENGINE CONTROL WIRING HARNESS TO DETERMINE IF IT HAS BEEN DAMAGED AND REPOSITION THE HARNESS SO THAT CONTACT WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL LEVER WILL NOT OCCUR.

THROUGH CONTACT WITH ROAD HAZARDS AND CURBS, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY CAN SHIFT FROM ITS ORIGINAL POSITION.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REINFORCE THE LOWER CONTROL ARM MEMBER ASSEMBLY ATTACHMENT TO THE UNDERBODY.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:HIGH/LOW BEAM DIMMER SWITCH95V003000 · Jan 1995

A PLASTIC SLIDER PIECE WITHIN THE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY DOES NOT FULLY RETRACT WHEN THE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH IS MOVED FROM LOW BEAM TO HIGH BEAM POSITION. THE LOW BEAM LAMPS GO OUT AS INTENDED, BUT THE HIGH BEAM LAMPS DO NOT COME ON.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY.

DURING WINTER MONTHS, LARGE QUANTITIES OF SALT ARE USED TO DE-ICE ROADS. THIS ROAD SALT COULD RESULT IN CORROSION OF THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND, IF NECESSARY, WILL REPLACE ONE OR BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS IF STRUCTURAL DAMAGE HAS OCCURRED. OWNER NOTIFICATION WILL BEGIN ON JUNE 10, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HYUNDAI AT 1-800-633-5151.
