2024 Honda Odyssey: problems, recalls and reliability

“My vehicle automatically shut off at a stop light and instead of turning back on, it died and left me stuck in traffic. I purchased the vehicle from a dealer on 9/11/2026 and this first happened 9/14/2026, and again on 9/18/2026. Both times my automatic shut off was automatically on and both times I was at a stop light where the automatic shut off engaged and instead of turning back on- my Van died at the light. “While the idle stop system was active, the vehicle turned off while stopped at a red light as expected. After the light turned green, the vehicle did not restart and turned all the way off and then attempted to reboot. I had to push the on button to turn the car back on. The first three attempts to start the vehicle resulted in clicking sounds like a dead battery. This has reoccurred at least 4 times in the past couple weeks and has only occurred while restarting with idle-stop and not when starting for the first time. “The vehicle came to a complete stop at a stoplight at a busy intersection and the Auto Idle Stop feature engaged. When the brake was released to resume driving, the engine struggled to restart, and then stalled completely in the middle of traffic. The vehicle did not automatically restart upon releasing the brake, and had to be placed into park, turned off completely, and then restarted manually to regain vehicle control. This has happened several times. “My 2024 Honda Odyssey has repeatedly failed to restart after the Auto Idle Stop system shuts the engine off while stopped at a red light or in traffic. Normally, the engine should automatically restart when I release the brake, but on several occasions the vehicle completely shut down and I had to manually restart it. During one incident, the vehicle would not restart for approximately 1-2 minutes despite repeated attempts. This left the vehicle disabled in traffic and created a serious safety concern. “While stopped at a red light on a busy road my car engine stopped and usually it automatically restarted when I let off the gas but it would not start and the engine would not turn on. The car was stalled and it took multiple attempts to get the engine to restart. This has happened 3 times now.
