“It happened repeatedly now while driving on freeway the steering would get sloppy at random moments and keeping the vehicle in its lane becomes difficult. I replaced tie rods inner & outer, upper/lower ball joints pitman arm and idler, swaybar links shocks/struts. I even had two different mechanics look at the steering components. “Tl* the contact owns a 2006 gmc yukon. While accelerating from a stop light, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The traction active warning indicator illuminated. Also, when making turns, the steering wheel made an abnormal noise. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. “My father was driving from dialysis on the decline of a bridge when he passed out behind the wheel. He was wearing his seatbelt, and the vehicle rested after hiting a tree. The airbags did not deploy. I have contacted gmc and there is an investigation pending, they have sent a representaive to inspect the vehicle and I am awaiting the outcome. I have contacted copart and had the vehicle placed on hold to allow NHTSA the opportunity to do the same, if you choose. 5017 duncan road, punta gorda, fl (941) 505-9700. “The rear tailgate actuator quit working. The remote nor the key would unlock the rear tailgate. This quit working with no warning and no prior issues. Also the remote controls have had to be re-keyed many times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was the actuator originally replaced under warranty. I received a call from the dealer the next day stating the service adviser "made a mistake" and the $495.00 was in fact not under warranty. This would indeed have led to very an unfortunate ending had I been driving and/or with passengers and an incident occurred. “I just bought this vehicle.steering hesitation during low speed turning. Rpm didn't change the hesitation. I had the same problems with the police patrol vehicles at work. “I have constantly had to replace my back brakes and rotors due to a insufficient aluminum disc that gmc installed I have receipts to prove how many back brakes in rotors I have had to replace. Thank god I was on the left side of the highway my six children and I almost lost are life the brakes went out we had to veer off into the terrain just to come to a stop in the mean time my tire popped from all the excitement and me and my kids was stuck on a major highway for 6 hours before we was towed in brought to safety. “Airbag failed function due to lack of inflator performance during my husbands head-on crash and he suffered collar bone and rib fractures,massive head trauma resulting in a crainiotomy,brain damage and death one month later. CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH A POWER STEERING HOSE THAT IS NOT TO SPECIFICATION. UNDER EXTREME STEERING MANEUVERS, SUCH AS TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL FULLY TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE BRAKING, THE HOSE MAY FRACTURE AND LEAK FLUID.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE POWER STEERING HOSE(S) FOR TWO SUSPECT DATE CODES AND REPLACE THEM IF REQUIRED. THE RECALL WILL BEGIN ON OCTOBER 14, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463, BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339, ISUZU AT 1-800-255-6727, OR HUMMER AT 1-800-732-5493.
CERTAIN FEDERAL-MOGUL REPLACEMENT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES WITH THE BRAND NAMES: NATIONAL, CARQUEST P/NOS. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, AND 515060, SHIPPED BETWEEN JANUARY 23, 2006, AND DECEMBER 20, 2007, SOLD FOR LIGHT DUTY AND MEDIUM DUTY TRUCKS. THE INBOARD RETENTION NUT USED TO MAINTAIN HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY CAN LOOSEN RESULTING IN AN ABS LIGHT INDICATION, NOISE, AND/OR WHEEL SEPARATION.
Remedy: FEDERAL-MOGUL WILL NOTIFY CUSTOMERS AND WILL REPLACE THE HUB ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 7, 2008. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FEDERAL-MOGUL TOLL-FREE AT 877-489-6659.
CERTAIN TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS." THESE VEHICLES WERE SHIPPED WITH TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION LABELS LISTING AN INACCCURATE VEHICLE CAPACITY WEIGHT.
Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH CORRECTED LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. AT THE CUSTOMER'S OPTION, A DEALER CAN INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 31, 2006.
