“There were two cases: first I was involved in a wreck with a car hitting me in the rear so hard that my back compartments wont open and now the air bag light is on and wont go off. Another case was as I was driving slowly to the laundry matt my power steering quit while my brakes went to the floor. It scared me to death and is broke down now. My three children are usually with me always. I have an 18 yr old autistic girl, a 13 yr old boy and a 4 year old boy. I'm a stay at home mom and used my ride for the children. “Tl* the contact owns a 2000 gmc safari. The contact stated while towing a boat, upon placing the vehicle in reverse with the brake depressed, the brake pedal went to the floor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnosed, which revealed that the rear brake lines were corroded. The manufacturer took a report 71-976167230, but refused to assist with the cost of the repair due to the age of the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. “Tl* the contact owns a 2000 gmc safari. The contact stated that the brake lights and hazard lights failed. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who advised he would make a temporary repair. The manufacturer was not contacted in regards to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000. Updated 5/9/11 *cn the consumer was alerted by other motorists that his vehicle had no brake lights. “Total brake failure during low speed, hard left turn into parking space on dry pavement. Brake pedal went to floor, pulsing. Vehicle continued into concrete barrier. Exterior damage: bumper, grill, and hood crumpled. Interior damage to engine compartment unk. No repairs attempted at this time. Vehicle drivable, brakes now appear to be functioning normally. “Tl*- the contact stated that while driving the 2000 gmc safari at 55 mph on cruise control. He came to a traffic light and contact pressed on the brake pedal trying to disengage the cruise control, but the cruise control did not disengage. The contact had to use the on and off switch to shut off cruise control. The contact stated that since the cruise control incident cruise control could not be used. “Dt*: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at 10mph or less, the antilock brakes pulsated which increased stopping distance. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who determined that the wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced. CERTAIN REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTERS, FRAM BRAND NAME P/N G3727, WITH DATE CODES X52911 THROUGH X60801 SEQUENTIALLY OR X600141 AND A MEXICO COUNTRY OR ORIGIN MARKING ON THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 18, 2005, THROUGH MARCH 21, 2006, SOLD FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE AND ON CERTAIN SCHOOL BUSES. (TO SEE THE SCHOOL BUS ENGINE SIZES, CLICK ON "DOCUMENT SEARCH" AND THEN "BUS APPLICATIONS"). THE CONNECTOR ON THE FUEL FILTER WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO HONEYWELL'S SPECIFICATION. AS A RESULT, THE O-RING MAY NOT SEAT CORRECTLY ON THE FUEL LINE.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 18, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-890-2075 (OPTION 1).
CERTAIN PRO-A MOTORS CORNER LAMPS, TURN SIGNALS, AND HEADLIGHTS SOLD AS REPLACEMENT LAMPS FOR USE ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. SOME COMBINATION LAMPS THAT ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.
Remedy: PRO-A MOTORS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER TO REPURCHASE THE LAMPS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 3, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PRO-A MOTORS AT 323-838-2988.
