1999 ford diesel truck oil pan leaks. *mr the oil pan deteriorated prematurely. The consumer requested a fix of the problem and a recall. The consumer has talked to many ford truck owners who have experienced this problem. *scOwner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · May 2005
As per oil leak per head gaskets on ford 1999 4.6 and 5.4 engines . The engine was repaired at 30000 + mile for a bad head gasket , now at 80,000 miles it bad again, it's leaking and smoking due to the leak and with speaking with service centers this is very common problem and is a safety issue, for ?engine fire or ???*akOwner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · Apr 2004

There was a super charger inter cooler leak in 1999, ford truck. It was spilling coolant directly into the motor intake. This was a safety/emissions problem with coolant clogging the o2 sensor and catalytic converter. Consumer bought a used vehicle, and recall repairs were not done. Ford contract nor aftermarket service contract covered this problem. *akOwner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · Aug 2003
While pulling away from a stoplight I heard a tremendous pop. Upon inspection I found that the #6 plug had blown out of the head taking the coil pack with it. The entire head had to be replaced. I hear that this is very common with the ford triton v-8 engines which utilize the alluminum heads.Owner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · Jul 2002
Oil leak noticed on driveway, dealer found passenger-side rear of head gasket leaking. Dealer replaced head gasket at cost of $1300, however after researching this problem it is obvious that many other 1999 5.4l engines have this same problem recurring frequently. Bought vehicle used and do not know if this component was already replaced prior to purchase (bought at 41k miles). This specific head gasket failure is a common problem for these 1999 5.4l engines, my concern is that this will continue to recur due to defect in manufacturing.Owner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · Nov 2001
The turning signal indicator is in the outside rear-view mirrors, the silver glazing on the back side of the mirrors is coming off, making it virtually impossible to see using these mirrors, replacement cost 440.00 dollars.Owner report · Visibility · Sep 2001
Vehicle shakes when brakes are applied; I took the vehicle to the dealership twice, it did not get fixed and another problem presented itself which I had to have fixed as well. I then proceeded to take it to another dealership to get the brakes fixed, they too did not fix the problem; the vechicle still shakes at around 30.*akOwner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Jun 2001
The fire started under the hood in the evening hours while parked and in the off position. No one was sighted near the vehicle at the time. Proper authorities were called and investigated the incident. The "hot spot" of the fire appears to be in the power distribution box under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle is a total loss. This vehicle was used all day and parked for many hours before the fire ignited.Owner report · Electrical System · Dec 2000
