Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford f450. He noticed smoke coming from under the hood after he cranked the engine. He then shut the vehicle off, opened the hood and saw flames. There is a recall for the vehicle speed control (NHTSA campaign id#06v286000) however, the dealer stated that his VIN was not included as part of the recall. Tl* - the contact was having continuous failures with 2000 ford f450 truck. The fuel tank corroded, causing it to clog the fuel injection system. The contact called ford ,and was told to contact NHTSA. The mechanic told him that there have been several ford fuel tanks having the same failure. The original fuel tank was in the vehicle for 6 years, the first replacement of fuel tank lasted eight months. The vehicle was currently being repaired.*akOwner report · Fuel System, Gasoline · Dec 2006

Dt*: the contact stated there is not enough clearance on the hub pilot rear wheels to be able to remove the wheels. In 2004 an independent repair shop used a cutting torch to remove the wheels in pieces. At that time the repair shop applied two new rear wheels and remounted the tires. Now the same thing is happening with the replacement wheels. Additionally the horn blows on its own. An independent mechanic replaced the horn relay. Shortly after the replacement the horn sounded again on its own. This is more likely to happen in damp/ humid weather conditions. The dealership was made aware of the problems.Owner report · Wheels · Aug 2006
Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle lost power while driving under normal conditions. The contact, a mechanic for fleet, determined the fuel tank lining was coming apart and getting into the fuel system. The fuel tank needed to be replaced. The fleet has two other vehicles with the same problem. *ak updated 02/02/07. *jbOwner report · Fuel System, Diesel · Jan 2006
Problems with fuel system on 2000 f 450.*mr while driving the vehicle would stall and sputter. The consumer replaced the fuel filter and found it to be restricted. The next day the stalling resurfaced and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer determined that he inner coating of the fuel tank was coming apart. The dealer suggested the consumer have the fuel tank, sending unit and fuel filter replaced and the injectors cleaned. The consumer contacted the manufacturer but they were not willing to provide any assistance. *nmOwner report · Fuel System, Diesel · Jul 2004
This is my third firestone tire on the same vehicle. *on 2-11-04 @est.1500 hrs in baker ca. Mileage 9,950 miles. *left front tire tread started to come off of firestone tire casing. It is really sad that firestone isn't held accountable for putting out such bad tires. Firestone per norma y. Gray my tire failures are all my fault. No one but firestone can keep the right pressure or not damage the tire causing it to come apart. I' m beginning to think this is a waste of time. *jbOwner report · Tires · Feb 2004
I have a 2000 ford f-450 with 19.5" general tires. I had a flat tire whereby the valve stem blew out. I had to replace the valve stems in all tires because, according to the tire shop where they were replaced, they were the wrong valve stems. The stems were not for high pressure tires but rather regular automobile tires. Ford had a recall but only checked to see if they were leaking. They shouild have replaced them with the proper valves.*akOwner report · Tires · Jul 2003

Valve stems are braking off at tire rim, causing tire to go flat. Ford has been contacted. *ak ford has issued a recall #01v046 but only inspected vehicle for leaks. The valve stems need replacing. Other valve stems are made from steel. These are made of rubber which can break off with a load. *jgOwner report · Tires · Aug 2002
