Tl*the contact owns a 1993 dodge dynasty. While driving 40 mph the brakes failed. He had to shift the vehicle into neutral to decelerate. The manufacturer advised the contact that recall# 96v099000, service brakes, hydraulic, anti-lock was repaired with the previous owner which made him ineligible for a free remedy. While applying the brakes brake pedal went to the floor. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and had the vehicle towed with no brakes to plaza dodge. Mechanic determined that the pump motor needed to be replaced, and replaced it three times. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the ABS braking system unit needed replacement. With no warning, ABS motor went out, causing vehicle to lose power. Also, it was hard for vehicle to stop. Cause unknown . THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT CAN EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE BRAKE ACTUATOR PISTON SEAL WEAR CAUSING PUMP-MOTOR DETERIORATION.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL TEST THE VEHICLE'S ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM AND REPAIR THE VEHICLES IF NECESSARY. ALSO THE WARRANTY ON ALL ABS COMPONENTS WILL BE EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES (EXCEPT FOR THE BRAKE ACTUATOR PISTON ASSEMBLY AND THE PUMP-MOTOR ASSEMBLY WHICH WILL HAVE A LIFETIME COVERAGE). OWNERS WILL ALSO BE REIMBURSED FOR PREVIOUS ABS COMPONENT REPAIR COSTS.
