Tl* the contact owned a 2001 chrysler lhs. While the contact was driving 40 mph, another vehicle did not yield to the right of way. As a result, the contact slammed on the brake pedal and crashed into the rear side of the other vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's sustained minor injuries and bruising to the head and both arms. The contact sustained a concussion. Medical attention was not received. A police report was filed. The contact drove home and the insurance company towed the vehicle to their location where it was deemed destroyed. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. I was backing out of my parking turning my squeaky steering wheel and the air bag light came on. I have almost had several accidents because then my horn stopped when the air bag light came on. So I checked the cruise control that don't work either now none of the buttons behind the steering wheel work. I did my research and it seems it's the clockscrew!! How do I get this part???? *trOwner report · Air Bags · Nov 2014
I bought the car in 2005 and recently the airbag light has come on and remains on and I cannot get my horn to work. I also smell gas in the winter when starting the car (have been to several places to find a leak). Visibility wipers are not working properly.Owner report · Visibility/Wiper · Oct 2014

2001 chrysler lhs. The vehicle has about 100,000 miles on the odometer. Issue #1 the vehicle dies suddenly while driving. This is a random occurrence, but very unsafe. I intend to contact chrysler about this issue, but no safety recalls have been made for this vehicle. Issue #2 vehicle engine surges suddenly when stopped while the driver has their foot on the brake and not touching the accelerator at all. The idle jumps around anywhere from 1,000 - 2000 rpm and then settles back down to normal idle on it's own after a few seconds. This is a random occurrence, but could be a safety issue if the brakes do not hold. *trOwner report · Electrical System · Mar 2009
Dashboard is splitting on a 2001 chrysler lhs. The split/tear started small (less than 3 inches) and over the past year has grown to approximately 10-12 inches. This was not due to outside action or force. *trOwner report · Structure · Mar 2008
The steering wheel squeaks when turning. Usually when it is cold weather, below 60 degrees or so. Took it to dealer who said that it is coming from the steering box and there is no danger. It is safe to drive and to "live with it". I took that to mean that it would be very expensive to fix, although no quote was ever given. After reading numerous complaints about steering problems with chrysler products, and specifically my make, model and year, I think this may be a precursor to something much more serious. The problem has been intermittent for the past 18 months, although I just recently took it to the dealer for their diagnostic evaluation. *trOwner report · Steering · Oct 2007
2001 chrysler lhs air bag light came on and stayed on. Consumer states that chrysler said air bag light was not covered under warranty. *nj the air bag module was replaced. *jbOwner report · Air Bags · Nov 2006
Splitting dashboard I noticed that is was a slight slit in the dashboard throughout the summer it started getting bigger, as time went on it has gotten almost half foot long. I paid to have it repaired it cracked again in the same spot, I tried to repair it myself and it didn't look too good so I took it in to have it repaired again and they told me that they were afraid to fix because it was near my airbag and did not won't to be responsible for any damages of the airbag so I left it alone. I am afraid that it may affect the function of my airbag. I would like to have the dashboard replaced but the dealership quoted me over $2000 to have this done and it is not in my budget. *trOwner report · Structure · Jun 2006
Dash cracks around passenger side airbag. Appears to be expanding and the only option for repair, due to the location, is complete replacement of the dash. *jbOwner report · Structure · Jul 2005
While driving 40 mph the driver noticed that the srs light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and the mechanic determined that the front passenger air bag was defective and needed to be replaced. *ak the chrome was peeling from the handle on the right front door and was replaced. The passenger seat air bag squib had an open fault. *sc *jbOwner report · Air Bags · Mar 2005
