“While driving approximately 35 miles per hour on a rural road, there was a loud bang from the front of the car, immediately followed by shaking, rattling and a swerve to the right. The car was driven to a local auto shop where an inspection revealed that the front suspension cross member had snapped in half, due to extensive corrosion damage. The mechanic then told me that chevy had instituted an internal campaign #06186 in 2007 to address a known issue with cross members that were not correctly protected against corrosion effecting model years 1999-2004. The cross member needs to be replaced.”Owner report · Suspension · Oct 2015

“Vehicle was taken to chevy dealer to replace rusted crossmember on steering suspension system in may 2010. The dealer stated that the recall had expired a long time ago and the cost of replacement would be about $800. The recall, which the dealer kept, clearly stated that the recall was valid for ten years from date of purchase. The vehicle was purchased in december 2000. The dealer refused on two addition dates to honor the recall or gm's agreement to extend their warranty to a full ten years or 150,000 miles as your website indicates.
