2001 Chevrolet Malibu: problems, recalls and reliability

“Turn signals do not work intermittently while driving. Don't know when they will work or not work. It can happen any place, and time. Dangerous, especially when driving at night. Below date is the most recent time it happened. Will for long time, then out of no where, turn signal will not work. While the contact was driving 65 mph, the pass lock system would shut off the fuel pump system, which caused the engine to seize without warning. The contact spoke with james chevrolet of johnstown (108 s comrie ave, johnstown, ny 12095, 518-762-5555) and was informed that they could replace the ignition switch and the pass lock system. The contact was provided a cost estimate for the repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. “Tl* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet malibu. While driving various speeds, unknown warning indicators illuminated. When the vehicle was started, the ignition had to be turned to the on position and the contact had to wait for the instrument panel to light up completely for the vehicle to start. The process worked intermittently. The vehicle failed to start every time the contact would attempt to start the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who replaced the ignition switch; however, the failure continued. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures.
