“1994 chevrolet s10 blazer. Consumer states several problems with vehicle *tgw the consumer stated the vehicle had broke down a total of 9 times 5 of which the vehicle was towed back to the used car dealer. The fuel pump, battery, starter, studs and lug nuts all had to be replaced. Also, the bracket for the alternator, a bolt for the power steering, the pitman arm, hub wheel assembly, 4- wheel drive actuator and upper and lower ball joints all needed to be replaced. *jb”Owner report · Suspension · Aug 2010
“I was driving down the road, came to a stop sign, then started to accelerate. All the sudden my seat back broke and fold backward, in a laid down position, almost causing me to crash. A few months later, the passenger side seat back did the exact same thing. I removed the broken seats, and installed two non adjustable seats from a old aurora, using the original seat bracket, which bolts the seat to the floor pan. These seats are unsafe also, because when I replaced the seats, the bolt holes in the floor became stripped while removing the bolts. “I was driving home early this morning, after doing a little hill climbing the night before with a friend. On the way home I was driving under the speed limit, when the vehicle about 3 seconds in front of me stopped, I immediately hit the brakes, the brakes did not work properly, causing me to hit the rear end of the car in front of me, causing damage to both vehicles, I received a traffic violation, and a neck sprain. *tr”Owner report · Service Brakes · Aug 2009
“I was never notified of a recall on my vehicle. I notified the company after my mechanic informed me about the recall. The recall had expired, but since I never received the information, I notified them, and only ask for reimbursement of the final repairs. “Dt*: the contact stated while driving 35 mph the engine stalled as if the vehicle was out of fuel. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop for inspection. “I bought my 94 chevy blazer in jan 2000. In 2005, my abd light went on. The dealer said my ABS brake modulator valve failed and that I need to replace my entire ABS unit. It costs $100 used and over $3k new. I found an article stating the recall of this pat in 1999 that I was unaware of. “At speeds above 40 mph the 4 wheel drive had been engaging by self the past month, sometimes in low mode. Very loud gear noises, shuddering, vibration & significant sudden decrease in speed. Occurrence is dangerous at any point, but most critical when approaching a toll booth. An inexperienced driver could readily lose control of vehicle. Latest incident (date given) so violent & can't disengage 4 wheel drive, the suv is parked until repaired. “While driving 35 mph the vehicle was involved in a frontal collision. The seat belt retractor system separated from the frame of the vehicle and the dual airbags did not deploy. “Dt*: the contact stated while driving at various speeds and applying brake pressure the brakes failed and the ABS light illuminated. There is a NHTSA recall, # 99v193000, regarding the service brakes hydraulic antilock. CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS NOT BEARING A DATE CODE IN THIS RANGE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. THE GASKET OF THE OIL FILTER BECOMES MORE PLIABLE UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED OIL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING NOVEMBER 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLL-FREE AT 1-800-890-2075.
CERTAIN R&B, INC. CENTRAL MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (CMFI) FUEL RETURN LINES, MODELS HELP 55163, NAPA BALKAMP 700-3270, AND THE CONNECTION 2560001, SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE FUEL RETURN LINE HAS A MECHANICAL BLEED VALVE WHICH WAS NOT INSTALLED AT THE PROPER TORQUE.
Remedy: R&B, INC. WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND AT THE CUSTOMERS REQUEST, EITHER REPLACE THE FUEL LINE OR OFFER A FULL REFUND. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 4, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT R&B, INC. AT 215-712-5330.
CERTAIN REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTERS, FRAM BRAND NAME P/N G3727, WITH DATE CODES X52911 THROUGH X60801 SEQUENTIALLY OR X600141 AND A MEXICO COUNTRY OR ORIGIN MARKING ON THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 18, 2005, THROUGH MARCH 21, 2006, SOLD FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE AND ON CERTAIN SCHOOL BUSES. (TO SEE THE SCHOOL BUS ENGINE SIZES, CLICK ON "DOCUMENT SEARCH" AND THEN "BUS APPLICATIONS"). THE CONNECTOR ON THE FUEL FILTER WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO HONEYWELL'S SPECIFICATION. AS A RESULT, THE O-RING MAY NOT SEAT CORRECTLY ON THE FUEL LINE.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 18, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-890-2075 (OPTION 1).
THE TRAILER HITCH ATTACHING BOLTS WERE NOT TIGHTENED TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE. THIS CAN LEAD TO LOOSENING AND SUBSEQUENT BREAKAGE OF THE FASTENERS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL TORQUE ALL EIGHT TRAILER HITCH BOLTS TO THE CORRECT TORQUE.
THIS IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SAFETY ACT. HOWEVER, IT IS DEEMED A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN BY THE AGENCY. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN LIGHT DUTY PICKUP TRUCKS, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, OR MINIVANS EQUIPPED WITH 3-SENSOR ABS (ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM) EBC4 UNITS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE COMPUTER PROGRAM WHICH OPERATES THE ABS UNIT ON SOME VEHICLES, OR REPLACE THE COMPUTER ON OTHERS TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ABS ON THESE SURFACES.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN 4-WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ABS (ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM) MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 1989 THROUGH AUGUST 1996. UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS THE SWITCH WHICH SIGNALS THE ABS SYSTEM WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN 2-WHEEL OR 4-WHEEL DRIVE CAN MALFUNCTION CAUSING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES DURING ABS STOPS WHILE IN THE TWO-WHEEL DRIVE MODE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE OR REPAIR THE 4-WHEEL/2-WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY PICKUP TRUCKS, VANS AND MOTORHOMES EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONICALLY FUEL INJECTED 6.5L DIESEL ENGINE. THIS IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL REGULATION PART 573. HOWEVER, IT IS DEEMED A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN BY THE AGENCY. THE CAMPAIGN WILL IMPROVE THE OVERALL DRIVEABILITY OF THESE VEHICLES.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL SOME RECENTLY DEVELOPED ENHANCEMENTS WHICH WILL IMPROVE THE OVERALL DRIVEABILITY OF THESE VEHICLES.
